"He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks wisely will be delivered." Proverbs 28:26
Follow your heart. Some of the most common words in today's pop music. What's the big deal? Following your heart means following whatever feels good at the moment. It throws logic and forethought to the wind and just goes for it. Regardless of good logic and wisdom are saying. The Bible says that our hearts are foolish, they don't know what they're doing.
Your heart is unreliable. Feeling and fact rarely have anything to do with each other. Your heart will fluctuate depending on the moment. It causes rash choices, like hopping into relationships you don't need, and aren't ready for. It may seem okay now, but given several moments/days/years it will come around to bite you.
So my hearts evil and I shouldn't follow it? Well not exactly; King Solomon declares in Ecclesiastes 10:2 this: A wise man's hearts directs him toward the right, but the foolish man's heart directs him toward the left. Just as a heart may be lead to anger, and hate, it can be lead towards love, and kindness. As we walk with God He changes our hearts. Makes them different. Places healthy desires, abilities, and hopes. We have to give God full control, or we're just going in circles.
