I jumped back. Then I realized it was just an FBI agent. “Hey kid! What are you doing up here?” He asked. “I'm Josh. My family was...t-tak-taken...” I said, blinking back more tears. “Oh...um...I'm sorry...You can stay.” I looked around her room. The room was in shambles, but I wasn't sure how much was from the incident and how much was from her just having a messy room. I moved on to Harrys' room. His also looked completely untouched. He must not have been in here when the men showed up.
I keep saying men because I know there was more than one. One person couldn't have taken 4 people. It was just too much.
Then I went to my Mom's room. Her room was untouched too. She probably wasn't in here when the men came either. I knew why I was here. I walked to the closet in the back of her room and opened it. 'Good, they haven't gotten here yet.' I thought as I opened the wall panel, revealing my family's weapons. There were several, but I just grabbed 3 of our small Glock pistols and tons of ammunition and put them in my backpack. I knew how to use these, I had practiced a ton with them and I must say I was pretty good. I don't know why I grabbed them. I just felt I would need them. Maybe for protection. I don't know. I went downstairs now. Some rooms looked a bit disheveled but for the most part the house was untouched. I went to our family storage room and filled the rest of my backpack with as much food as I could. I also grabbed a large flashlight, some matches, and other random items. Then I walked out of the back door.
I checked my surroundings and made sure nobody was watching as I jumped the fence behind our house. I landed in the soft dirt on the other side and turned to face the woods. I followed the trail to that had been made from my numerous trips to my friend Noahs' house. I jumped his fence too and walked around the front of the house. Then I knocked on the door.
His mom answered, “Hi Josh! Noah's not going to be home for like another two hours, he's at school so...Wait a minute, why aren't you at school?” Mrs. Micheals' asked. “Um...Somethings come up and I need to talk to Noah about it.” I said, looking at the ground so she wouldn't see me blink back a few more tears. “Josh, you need to get back to school.”
“I was excused for a few weeks, I don't really want to talk about...about...i-it.” I said, trying to avoid saying what happened.
“What Happened Josh?”
“My family...t-they're...they're gone...”
“What? What do you mean they're gone?”
“My family was kidnapped!” I semi-shouted at her. I could that anger coming back again. “Josh, Go back to school.” She said sternly. “Okay, I will.” I pretended to agree. I started walking down the street. I knew the Police would be searching for me now. I decided to go to the library and read a book. I walked in. The only other person there that wasn't a librarian was an older gentleman who was sitting on a couch reading “Huckleberry Finn”.
I went to the back and grabbed a “Sports Illustrated” from October 2012. But I put it back. I went over to the computers and logged in using my library card. I had memorized my number. Then I created a facebook profile so I could look up Lucas Johnson. My Dad. I searched it, but it was such a generic name that hundreds of results came up. After forty minutes of searching I found him. He lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was going to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I searched the directions on Google Maps and saw that it was over 1,600 miles to drive!
I looked at the directions. It had me drive on I-80 all the way there. I could do that. I also saw that my Dad worked for a company called “Perez Roofing”. 'Hey, Maybe he will hold a job for more then 2 months this time!' I thought. Then I looked at “Perez Roofing's” website to see where they were located. I wrote down the address and put it in my backpack. It was now 2:00 pm and school was going to get out soon so I headed over there to collect my thoughts and plan some more. I had an hour to do so. Then I would catch Noah to see if I could borrow one of his families 6 cars. I was sure they wouldn't even notice if I took their Dodge Grand Caravan. Which they hadn't used in years. I arrived at the school and sat down a bench. My mind racing. I pushed out thoughts of my family. I had to be strong. I had to rescue them.
