I was interrupted from my thoughts by a loud bell. School was over. I grabbed my backpack and stood up, scanning the crowds of students for Noah. I finally saw him about 100 feet away in a crowd of people after a few minutes of searching.
“Hey, Noah! I need to talk to you!” I shouted to him, then ran to catch up to him. He spoke first, “What happened to you today? Why'd you have to go to the office?” He asked. “I have to leave. I'm going to Pittsburgh. I-” He interupted me, “Pittsburgh!?! Why are you going to Pittsburgh?!?”
“I have to find my Dad! Something's happened and I need to leave. I need to borrow your Grand Caravan.”
“What Grand Caravan?” He said confused, this was why I wanted to borrow it, I was pretty sure his family didn't even know it existed. “You know. The one in your driveway hidden behind your Dad's truck? I need to borrow it.” He still looked confused. “Why don't you take your own car? Didn't your Mom help you buy that little Volkswagen GTI?”
“Yes they did. But the police are crawling my house and there is no way I'll get out of there I-” He interrupted me again, “Police? What happened? What did you do man?” Too many questions. “Nothing! My family is...my families gone, okay. They were taken. I'm hunting down the people who took them because the police think I am connected to the people who took them and so they want to arrest me and now I'm here because I need to get to Pittsburgh to find my Dad so that he can help me.” I rambled without pausing for a breath.
“Woah. Dude. I'm sorry. I-Remember? You left your car at my house?” He said, shocked. Now I did remember. I was going to go to his house today to study for the math test tomorrow. “Oh...ya..thanks...” I stumbled out, “Well thanks. I don't know when I'll be back so goodbye Noah.” I said, then I took off down the street back to his house. He tried to chase after me but I was one of the fastest kids in school, Noah, well, he was an Offensive Lineman and weighed 250 pounds, so I easily lost sight of him.
I arrived at his house and saw my car, sitting behind a Prius. I opened the door and reached under the seat where I always left my keys. Then I fired it up and took off. I saw I needed gas, so I grabbed my wallet from the glove box and started towards the gas station. I rounded the corner and saw two police cars parked outside the coffee shop on the other side of the street. 'Crap' I thought. I pulled into the gas station and quickly filled up. Then I went and paid, grabbing a few snacks for the road on the way. I jumped into my car and sped down the street. I parked on a side street and pulled the address out of my backpack. I typed it into my GPS and I was off.
