    She sat in his hospital bed holding his hand waiting for him to wake up, if he ever would. She couldn't believe that this was happening. "How did we get here?" She asked herself. The guys were talking out in the hallway trying to cheer each other up. Kayla smiled at Jake who was chugging the water that the nurse had given him while Blake was timing him to see how fast he could drink it. She turned her attention back to her best friend who was asleep in the hospital bed. She allowed a single tear to roll down her cheek, but no more. She had cried enough and she needed to stay strong for her boys. Her thought process was interrupted when she heard cheers from the hallway. Jake had gulped down the water in thirty seconds. "Impressive" she said to herself. Her gaze went back to her friend in the hospital bed. She spaced out while listening to the beeping of the machines he was hooked up to.

    ~~~FLASHBACK~~~
    ~Kayla's POV~
    I glanced down at my phone when it started playing a Pierce The Veil song as its ring tone. I looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Riley calling me. I answered the phone.
"Hey Riley! Whats up?" I said cheerfully into the phone.
"Kayla, I-I need to talk to you." He said sort of sad.
"Okay, what about?" I replied kind of worried.
"I-I can't do it anymore Kayla, I..." He trailed off.
"Riley, what are you talking about?" I asked starting to get really worried.
"Kayla, I love you so much. This is not your fault and its not the guy's fault. Kayla, I'm saying goodbye."
"Riley what are you saying? What isn't our fault?" I said quickly standing up from my bed.
"Kayla I-I love you guys so much but, I just can't do this anymore. I'm so unhappy and unwanted. I am so tired of being bullied and misunderstood i just..." He trailed off again beginning to cry.
By this time I had walked to my bedroom door and walked down the stairs to get my car keys. I yelled to my mom that I was going to a friends house and shut the door behind me. She gave me a weird look since it was 9:30 pm.
"Riley, please think about this. You don't want to hurt yourself even more. You'll get through this." I said calmly into the phone.
"No, Kayla. I'm done waiting for things to get better. I'm so sick of life, of people, of me..." He said "me" with sadness and anger in his voice.
"I'm done Kayla. I'm so sorry for hurting you this way, I just.."
Tears began to flow from my eyes. I began begging him to reconsider. He was crying too. I was driving to his house while I was still on the phone with him. He had no idea I was coming over. I was almost to his house when he said his final "goodbye".
I jumped out of my car, slammed the door and ran up the steps to his house. I frantically knocked on the door and soon his mother opened it with a smile on her face.
"Hello Kayla! How are yo-" I ran past her and up the stairs to Riley's room. When I got to his room I almost lost it. I saw my best friend holding a gun to his head. Right when he was about to pull the trigger I ran up and tackled him. When I tackled him, his arm fell down to his chest and the bullet pierced his skin.
I immediately called an ambulance and held my hand over his chest to stop the bleeding. I looked straight into his eyes and said "I love you Riley, your my best friend. Please don't leave me." And with that, he slipped into unconsciousness. I cried the whole way to the hospital and didn't leave until I knew he was okay. Little did I know it was going to take longer than I thought.
