Things Are Looking Up

"Doctor, doctor! Come quick! He's awake!" I shouted and ran into the hallway. A nurse ran into the room to assess Riley's condition. The doctor followed quickly after. I heard him bark out a few orders. Check vitals. Adjust tubes. Stuff like that. I stood out in the hallway so I wouldn't be in the way. I just stared at Riley through the window to his room. He stared back at me, never loosing eye contact. I finally decided to call they guys to let them know the good news. 

"KAYLA!" Where have you been! Are you okay!? Iv'e called five times!" Blake yelled into the phone as soon as he answered it.

"I'm fine Blake, I just couldn't be there for a while."

"I understand. Jake was a jerk for saying what he did to you. You can bet we all ganged up on him after you left." I smiled at this. They always had my back.

"It's fine. I know he's just frusterated. But that's not why I called.

"It's not?"

"No, actually, I'm calling because..because Riley's awake!" I couldn't help but scream that last part. I was just so excited. We were finally almost through with this nightmare.

"WHAT! NO WAY! We'll be right there!" He said and hung up. I was glad they were coming so quickly. I missed them. It had only been overnight that I hadn't been with them but I didn't like the way I left them.

The boys, along with Sleeping WIth Sirens, All Time Low and Pierce the Veil, arrived at the hospital an hour later and bombarded me with questions. When did he wake up, what did he say. I had to calm them all down before I could answer them. 

"He woke up about three hours ago. The doctor is making sure that he stays stable before we can visit him." I told them.

"Did he say anything?" Slade asked quickly.

"He said 'I'm here'"

"Awwww" The bands said at the same time.

The doctor came out a few minutes later and everyone went to see what he had to say. Jake pulled me back as I started to walk over to him as well.

"Kayla, I'm so sorry about what I said to you. I didn't mean it I swear. I know how guilty you felt when you didn't have to feel that way. You did the most out of any of us. You even tackled the guy to get him to put the gun down! I never should of said what I did. I hope you can forgive me." He said putting his head down as he finished talking. I immediately hugged him and told him he was forgiven. He smiled and hugged me back. It was then I realized something was missing.

"Where's Dalton?" I asked looking around.

"Oh, Late NIte Reading had to leave for a gig. Dalton was going to tell you, but, he didnt want to bother you.." Jake said looking down again. Great, I finally find a guy I like and now he hates me. Its my fault though.

"I hurt him. He hates me now. I would too."

"Kayla its not your fault. You were mad at me and just wanted to get away. He understood that. Im sorry about that too. I just messed everything up." He said looking up at me. I smiled and hugged him again. I would try to apologize to Dalton later. But would he accept it?

When Jake and I finished talking, the doctor said it was okay for us to visit Riley, but that he wanted to see me first. I went to Riley room and this time when I stood in the doorway, I smiled. 

"It's nice to see you sitting up." I said walking over to his bed and sitting down.

"It's nice to be awake." He said smiling back.

I stared at him for a while and a tear made its way down my cheek. Riley reached up and wiped it away. He held my face in his hands. He stared straight into my eyes. "I'm not going anywhere Kayla. I was stupid to leave in the first place. I'm not leaving you ever again." He said as a tear rolled down his cheek as well. This time I wiped it away and held his face in my hands. "You better not. I don't know what I would do." I said back to him. The guys started to come in a few minutes later. The bands followed soon after. They all were formally introduced to Riley. They told him how happy they were that he came out of the coma he was in. 

We all sat and talked in his hospital room for a while. He wouldnt be coming home for another few days. So we stayed with him as long as we could. The doctor finally came in and told us visiting hours were over. We all said our goodbyes and I hugged Riley before I left. The ride back to the mansion was a happy one. When we got home, we decided to watch a movie. Jake picked it out so it was a comedy. Everyone was laughing and quoting the movie. I sat on the couch and stared at my phone, trying to think of what to say to Dalton.

"You're awfully quiet over there." Jack said and everyone looked at me. 

"I'm just tired." I said smiling at them.

"That's not it. Alex said matter of factly "You miss Dalton."

"What? No, I'm just...okay. I miss Dalton." I said defeated.

"HA! I knew it!" Alex rose his fists in victory.

"Why dont you just call him?" Tony asked.

"I, I kinda left things unresolved between us." 

"Ohhh" They all said in unison. "Well, why not tell him how you feel?" Mike suggested.

"In a text?" I said puzzled. 

"No, silly! In person!" Kellin yelled while stuffing his mouth full of popcorn.

"Yeah, they told us where they would be playing. You could show up and tell him." Rian chimed in during laughs. 

"But what if he doesn't feel the same way?"

"Oh please!!! You two should get married you love each other so much!" Jaime yelled fake crying.

"Oh Jaime! You'll always be my number 1" I said winking at him. This was enough to cause him to jump onto the couch and squish me. 

"Thanks babe" He said with a goofy grin on his face. "And to prove I'm not jealous, Ill even take you."

"Well, its settled then" Alex said. "Tomorrow we will play cupid" He said rubbing his hands together and wiggling his eyebrows. 

Tomorrow I would tell the boy I love how I felt. No pressure right.
