"Dimitri! Lissa's unconscious!" I yelled frantically, finally turning to see him.
He looked at me in disbelief. Probably thinking how can this happen under his supervision. Oh my silly Dimitri.
"What?!" I could hear the uncertainty in his voice, but, like always, he believed me - well, acting on instinct - and never asked me anything else. He slipped into his guardian mode, coming to the bed quickly and checked her, all the while alerting Lissa's bodyguards about her condition.
They came as soon as they got the news. Hans along with Gregory, John and Edward - who made Lissa's personal bodyguards - barged into the room, concern showing on their face - which contrasted the usual guardian's cold, detached expression. Well, Lissa is quite charismatic when it comes to people. And then, she is a The Queen.
Shut up Rose, that's why you are not given the opportunity to guard her all day long. Never ever concentrating on anything. I chided myself.
I'd wanted to be with her every time of the day, guard her, protect her. After all, that's what guardians do. That's what I thought when Dimitri told me we were assigned to Christian and Lissa. But to my dismay, I was just her guardian for name, and not a all-time guardian, as I wanted to be. They'd told me I have to take another training for being a Royal Guardian. Well, they'd told that it was an easy training, but I know how trainings are. Ugh, training. That's just gross.
Did it again, thinking about something stupid when I have to concentrate. I kicked myself internally.
Meanwhile, I vaguely noticed that the guards carried her to the hospital of the Court. I followed them, now panic settling in my stomach. Was she alright? What happened to her? And that too so suddenly?
A familiar hand tapped my shoulder.
"Lissa will be fine, Rose. Don't worry about her," Dimitri said softly - now concern for Lissa and me showing on his face, the earlier guardian mode now off - coming from the door of ER. We were already at the hospital, I realized with a start. I checked my surroundings; I was sitting on one of the benches at the hospital with Dimitri sitting beside me. How did I sit here?
"What did the doctor say?" I asked, not really in the mood for soothing-myself session. "Is she alright?"
"We just kept her on the bed, Rose. Edward went to search for the doc," Dimitri replied, amused.
"When the hell is that damned doctor coming?" I asked, agitated. She's queen, dammit! I was truly worried about her now. Even Dimitri's kiss won't help me reduce my tension..... umm... Maybe. I have to try if I have to find out if it'll help or not.....I don't mind.
"Rose calm down. She'll be coming in two minutes."
I again ignored his reply. "I want to see Lissa. We'll wait in there."
He just nodded, taking my hand and leading me to her room.
When we entered, Dimitri went to talk with other guards - from the sounds of it, apparently telling them how it will be better if the doc don't see this much people crowding here. I ignored their quiet arguments, dragging my feet to her bed.
She looked pale and worn out. But still beautiful. Her breathing was irregular; but atleast she was breathing. Oh Lissa, be fine soon.
The door opened and in came the doc. She was short and plum, with gray eyes and hair, meaning she was old. She looked sturdy and indifferent, with an I don't give a damn expression.
I'd met her before, when I was injured by the gunshot. She was cold but really sweet (note the sarcasm). I like her.
Ms. Lucia Shakur saw me watching her and nodded. No hi-hellos, just a curt nod; didn't I say she was sweet?
She fixed her gray eyes on Lissa's pale body and went up to her, checking her.
"She is unconscious." She said.
Duh. We all know that.
She checked her for some more time, while we watched her helplessly.
"I believe she used her power, spirit, before sleeping and I suspect after sleeping too. Am I right?"
That's why I like Ms. Lucia, that's what I meant when I said she's sweet; she just come to the point - I don't know how she finds out this by just looking at the victim, but the confidence she always possess when telling the reasons behind the current state is --- wait, what???
She said spirit?! And then the reason smacked in my head so hard that I cringed internally. I'd been fool to think about any other reason when the truth was right in front my eyes.
I'll be damned.
