Hakeem. . .

Where the hell is Niecey at? She forgot to call me back. I would hate to go looking for her. Dragging her in a public place would not look good.

As soon as I grabbed my car keys and was ready to go after her, here she comes walking in with a huge tub of ice cream. She had that face like she was hiding her emotions. I knew something was wrong.

“Hi Baby. I’m sorry I didn’t call; I really needed some more ice cream. You stopped bring it home for me.” She sashayed over to me then kissed my forehead. No kiss on my lips?

“Yea, it’s cool. You just had me worried. I was about to come after you.” I laughed but when she joined me, her laugh was sort of a nervous one. “Babe?”

“Yes Hakeem?”

“Are you ok?”

“Of course. Your child is just playing with my emotions today.”

“I’m sorry about how things have been the past few weeks. I just want you safe, ok?”

“Ok.”

“Come here, DJ.” She walked over to me slowly and looked kind of scared. “I ain’t gone do nothing. Come here.” She walked over and sat next to me.

“I have to tell you something Hakeem.” I felt a big ass lump form in my throat.

“What is it?”

“Baby, I ran into Brandon-- I mean Lil Devil at Baskin Robins.”

“Ran into him? What happened? Did he do something to you?”

“No, no. He just wanted to check on me because he hasn’t heard from me. I didn’t tell him that we knew who he really was or anything. I just told him I was focusing on you and the baby.”

“If that’s all, then why do you look scared?”

“I don’t think he believes me. At first when he yelled my name, I walked faster. Then he sped up and yelled again. I tried to run but he grabbed—“

“Hold up. He grabbed you. Hard?”

“Just my wrist. Nothing major.” I didn’t realize she had her hand in the pocket of her sweats. What’s she hiding? I grabbed her arm to see her wrist. It was slightly bruised. “Baby, you know I bruise easily. Don’t overreact.”

“I’m going to kill him.” I stood up and grabbed my phone. I felt like ripping somebody’s head off. I know she said he didn’t grab her hard but it’s the principle. He grabbed hard enough to leave a mark. Plus, he knows who I am.
