The funeral was a funeral. I gave a eulogy, but I couldn't finish it without tears. Rossi had to finish it for me. At the end, we laid water lilies on Derek's coffin.
His mother was there and so were his sisters. They lost son and a brother, but I just lost a love. My loss was much smaller than theirs.
I was the last one who was staring at his coffin. I turned back to the limousine with my hand on my stomach. A new development made this day even more painful.
I went to the doctor and it was confirmed, but I was the only one who knew.
"Avery. We're about to leave."Hotch called from the limo. I walked back with both hands cradling my stomach.
"I'm coming."I called back.
"You all right?"he asked. At first, I nodded, but then shook my head.
"What's wrong?"he asked as he opened the door to the stretched car. I looked down at my stomach. He sighed as if he had suspected it.
"Is it Derek's?"he asked. I nodded as my eyes filled with tears. He pulled me into a hug as I cried on his shoulder. He rubbed my back as I drenched his shoulder in tears.
"Don't worry. You'll be fine."he said as he pulled away.
"It's not me I'm worried about."I said as I sat in the vehicle,"It's the baby."
THE END
... For Now.
