Peggy stared, open mouthed. No way. There was no way Steve could be alive. He crashed over a year ago, how could he have survived? She heard him go down, her dreams still replayed that event over and over again. Yet there he was, looking like he did all of that time ago. The same tall frame, the same eyes she thought she might never see again. Steve only smiled, looking just as shocked as she felt, and moved toward her to embrace her. She wrapped her arms around his blue clad ones.
"You're late." She whispered, stifling a scream.
"I know" he replied, just as quiet.
"How are you here, Steve, I heard you die, you shouldn't be here!" Peggy didn't know if she should laugh, cry or scream. She was a logical woman, and this was not something that could ever be real.
And yet...
"I was never dead, Peggy. The serum saved me and I was frozen in the ice for almost 70 years. Besides, you're not getting rid of me that easily, ma'am."
Peggy cut him off by kissing that foolish man, and of all of the kisses the two had ever had, this one outdid them all. Steve started to sway, and hum a song. It sounded so familiar. Peggy joined in. It wasn't the Stork Club, but it would have to do.
"I will feel a glow, just thinking of you..." they hummed the song together, to a dance that was long overdue. Peggy smiled. Yes, she was going to like it here.
