Braden's pov:

I wake up when I hear Kelly talking to someone. I pretend I'm still asleep so I can hear the conversation.

"You can't just show up at my house in the middle of the night Jaden!"

"Why not? Braden's here! And you're dating me!"

"He's my best friend! I can still hang out with him. And he's here with me tonight because YOU WEREN'T THERE WHEN I NEEDED YOU TODAY!"

She screams at him and I can tell she's about to cry. I fight the urge to comfort her because I wanna hear what Jaden says.

"What do you mean!"

They're having a full out couple fight right now.

"Lunch, Jaden. You were supposed to meet me in the courtyard, and you DIDN'T!"

"Sorry, but I forgot. So what?"

"SO WHAT? I WAS RAPED JADEN! ALL BECAUSE YOU LEFT ME ALONE."

He goes silent. "what?" His voice becomes soft.

"Yeah. A senior raped me in the janitors closet. If you had been there, maybe you could've stopped it from happening." She pauses. "But Braden is the one who saved me. He comforted me. He wiped away my tears. He carried me home. He held me. He was there for me, when you weren't."

She starts sobbing and I can't help but calm her down. I love her too much to just listen to her cry like that.

"Shhh. It's ok Kel-Bel." I whisper in her ear as I wrap my arms around her and she buries herself in my chest.

"Kel, I had no idea. I'm sooooo sorry." Jaden says. I almost forgot he was here.

"Sorry doesn't make it better J." Kelly says, still crying into my chest.

Jaden frowns and then turns to me. He looks like he wants to kill me. I guess because I'm comforting Kelly? Well too bad. She's mine.

Without another word, Jaden hops back out the window, the way he came in, and leaves.

I look down at Kelly who's still sobbing.

"It's all gonna be okay." I tell her and she looks up at me.

"Braden?"

"Yeah?"

"Promise me something."

"Anything."

"Promise that you'll never leave me alone."

"I promise." I say as I kiss her forehead and she smiles.

We both stare at each other for what seems like forever then she breaks the silence. "We should go back to sleep."

"Yeah." I say, kinda sad that I have to let go of her. I start turning back around to go to sleep, but she pulls me back.

"Stay." She whispers

So I stay.

I drift off to sleep and she does too.
