The Elementals

Chapter 2

As soon as my mom left, I looked out the window only to find out that it was still dark. I had no intention of going back to sleep so I decided to give my little friend a visit.

I left the house at about 3 in the morning and made my way to the little pond behind my school.

"Maya, your here but why are you here right now-" she started to say when she noticed me. "Oh right, the same nightmare again?"

Her name was Stella and she was a winged baby pet. She was wearing her blue polka dotted pajamas and the blue slippers that she never takes off. I had met Stella when I was 8 and since then we became close friends.

"Ya," I answered. Stella knows me better than anyone even my parents.

She flew over to me and sat on my lap as I made myself comfortable on the trunk of a cut down tree.

The view was amazing, the sun was rising and I could see pink and yellow and orange and blue highlights of the sun as they were reflecting off the water.

My eyes started getting heavier and heavier by the moment. I was trying really hard not to fall asleep but I couldn't resist the urge so I let myself drift off into a deep slumber.

I was sitting in my normal seat for my 4 period chemistry class and looking out the window when I saw my mom come out of the car. At this time my mom still should of been at work, then why was she here at school. After I saw my mom walk through the front doors, I was called down to the office.

As I opened the office door with my backpack slung over my shoulder, my mom took my hand and pulled me out the door and into the car.

"Mom, what happened?" I asked as we pulled out of the parking lot.

"Honey listen to me carefully, you are not like everyone else. You have special powers. You have the ability to control the 4 elements." She answers.

"Wait WHAT"

"I know this is confusing but u have to trust me. You are in grave danger, there demons after you that want you......dead"

"This is a joke right? Mom?"

"No this is all true. And the good thing is that your not alone, there are others like you. There are 6 of you in total. 3 girls and 3 guys. Well that's what the book said."

We arrived at my house and my mom and I entered. She went to the kitchen and started filling a blue backpack with some food.

I was shocked and still processing the information.

So I have powers but how do I use them? The others, are they nice, who are they and what are the 6 different types of powers? Why do the demons want to kill people like me? And why is mom packing food in a backpack? I had so many questions about my powers and all and I really wanted to know the answers when mom started talking again.

"You will be going on a trip by yourself to find all of the other elementals. Once you find them, you will all need to learn how to control your powers"

"But mom," I began, "how did I get these powers? I mean who gave them to me? Or was I born with them?"

My mom sighed and started to tell me the story. "On the day you were born, I had a dream but it was real. You were sleeping beside me when I saw a vision of a girl just like you but a bit older. She was controlling the water in the ocean to fight off the demons. And that's when I reali-"

Knock, knock, knock. My mom and I both turned towards the front door. I stole a quick glance at my mother who looked like she saw a ghost. Then she continued packing.

Before I knew it my mom had a backpack ready for me.

She handed me 3 books as she said "Here take these with you, the first book will tell you about the powers you have and how to control them. The second book is how you got your powers and why you were born with them. Lastly the third book will tell you how to find the other elementals, what their powers are and about the Abilities Planet."

"Wait hold on, there is another planet called the Abilities Planet, then how come humans don't know about it? And-" I was cut off by more banging on the door.

"Maya look, we don't have much time and I am sure all your questions will be answered in the book. Take all this and run. Go through the back door and find all the other elemental. Once you do that learn to control your powers."

Just as I was about to protest, the door broke open and in came a few guys wearing all black. They all had black sunglasses and black hair.

Suddenly, my mom yelled "RUN" and without saying another word, I ran as fast as could out the back door and into the thick green forest.

As I entered the forest, I looked back for a split second and saw the men in black people running after me.

I hope nothing happened to my mom.
If they did something to her, then I will literally drown them to death. Just then I heard a loud explosion and saw my house on fire.

I screamed and continued running deeper into the forest, tears started rolling down my cheeks and onto the dirt. I had no idea where I was going but I just wanted to get away from the people that blew up my house. My mother was in there and now they killed her. How could they do that to her? What did she do to them? All of the sudden it started raining. I guess the weather is controlled by my emotions. Ugh what am I saying?

I never wanted this. I just wanted to be a normal kid and have a normal life but no, I had to be an elemental. I wanted my mom, and I know I m being childish but could you ever imagine living without your mom even after not knowing what happened to her.

I wiped away a few tears from my face but they kept coming. I decided to do what my mom had told me to do in the first as I continued running.
