I got to the bottom of the stairs and followed the smell to the kitchen. There, I saw Ed frantically moving around with a steaming frying pan, trying to put out the fire within it. I rushed up to him, took the pan, threw it in the sink and turned on the water. The fire went out and I turned to looks at Ed. His cheeks were a deep shade of red.

"What just happened?" I asked him.

"Well... You displayed your excellent emergency handling skills. On account of me not having very good grilled cheese making skills." He started laughing. I couldn't help. I joined in. He was just trying to be sweet and make some lunch for us. And it caught in fire. I couldn't stop laughing. Selena walked into the kitchen.

"So I take it everything is okay then?" she asked with a humored expression on her face.

"Yeah," I said between giggles. "Ed was just trying to make us some lunch. He's just not the greatest chef, I suppose."

"Sorry," Ed looked utterly embarrassed.

"Seriously, Ed. It's totally fine. It was so nice of you to want to make us lunch," I said looking into his eyes. I couldn't stop staring at his gorgeous, blue eyes.

"Well," Selena said, and I broke eye contact, "I think I'll just grab some peanut butter and jelly and leave."

"Alright," I said. I walked over to the cabinet and grabbed my peanut butter.

"Okay, I'll make us something to eat then, Ed. What do you want?"

"Anything you want to make is fine by me. I'll eat just about anything."

"I'll just make some grilled cheese then, since we already have a pan," I laughed. I grabbed the bread and butter and turned the range back on.
