When I got to the restaurant, I saw Ed had gotten there early. I got his attention, waved, and walked over to him.
"Hey," he said, "How are you?"
"Good," I said as we walked to our table. "Hungry though."
Ed waited for me to sit before he did. As he sat down, our waitress came over and introduced herself. Ed and I ordered, and we talked while we waited for our food.
"So," I said, "it's been a while since you put out a new album. Are you working on anything?"
"Yes, actually. I've been working forever. Not next year, but the year after that, I'm hoping to put out three albums in three years. But I haven't talked about it too much."Ed and I ordered and talked while we waited for our food.
"So," I said, "it's been a while since you put out a new album. Are you working on anything?"
"Yes, actually. I've been working forever. Not next year, but the year after that, I'm hoping to put out three albums in three years. But I haven't talked about it too much."
I smiled, feeling a spark of happiness that he had told me something he hadn't told many other people. He trusted me.
"Well that's cool," I said. "I was thinking that for my album I'd like to record that song we wrote on my trampoline. Would you be up for that?" I was bracing myself for the worst, because I still wasn't sure if he just wanted to go his own way or not.
He paused and looked into my hopeful eyes, and I looked back into his. They looked warm, like home.
"That would be epic."
I was so relieved and happy and so many other feelings that we were going to be able to record together for my album.
"Thank you so much!" I couldn't keep the stupid grin from my face. "I'm looking to collaborate with maybe a few people on this next album. The last one I released was, like, one-hundred percent me, so I'd like to switch things up a little. You going to be an incredible addition." I kept smiling and I still wasn't even quite sure I'd heard him right. Ed Sheeran, who had the voice of an angel, wanted to record with me? Crazy. Ed started laughing.
"What's so funny?"
"Slow down, superstar. For real did you take a single breath in those sentences?" I noticed how the skin around his eyes crinkled when he smiled and his eyes got a little squinted.
"Sorry," I laughed, snapping out of it. I always talked way too fast when I was excited.
Just then our waitress appeared at our table with our food. She looked about eighteen, with bright green eyes and long dark hair pulled back into a pony tail and she was grinning uncontrollably.
"Could I get a picture with both of you?" she asked politely.
"Of course!" I loved my fans, and I had never turned down someone asking for a photo or autograph.
She slid into the booth with me and pulled out her phone, opening her camera. We took two photos together- one nice one and one goofy faced one. Then she sat next to Ed and did the same.
"Well, you guys have already been too kind, so I'll let you enjoy choir food in peace now," she said, starting to walk away.
"Wait!" I called after her. "Could I get a photo with you?"
The waitress turned around, looking shocked, but she came back and sat down next to me.
"For twitter," I explained, "Much more exciting than just a tweet."
