Chapter 4: Shocking Realization

Laurance knows what happened. He stares at you with tears in his eyes. Garroth just shakes his head.

"Do guys understand?" Aphmau asks. Laurance opens his mouth, but closes it.

"Laurance?" You try.

"Nothing, mind in I tell you later, in private?" Laurance asks.

"Uh, sure." You say. "But, it seems like they did something to me, and I overcame it, so they did it to me again, but stronger."

Laurance frowns. "I don't understand. How can you overcome being a... Never mind."

"Being a what, Laurance?" You ask, needing an answer. You already know it in your heart though.

"I said it can wait till later." He snaps.

"I think me becoming a Shadow Knight is some news that can't wait!" You yell.

"I..." Laurance flinches. "I'm so sorry."

Aphmau and Garroth exchange horrified looks.

"I'll leave, if you guys want." You say quietly. "I'm just another threat to you, Aphmau."

"Never." Says Aphmau. "We'll help you through this, in exchange for you controlling your temper, and not using any powers."

"Really?" You ask, hopeful.

"No." Says Aphmau, and your eyes widen. "Just kidding!"

You begin to laugh along with her, starting off Laurance and Garroth as well. At least some good memories will come of this.

Have you overcome it again? You've been here, in your room, for a day, and haven't lost control of your temper. Maybe not, because you can feel so much pent up rage, at everything really. Aphmau and Garroth visit you, and Laurance has been with you for the entire time, not wanting to leave you.

"Everything okay?" He asks every couple minutes.

"I'm fine, Laurance, you don't need to ask." You try to hold in some screaming about how annoying he is.

"You know, you're so cute when you're trying to hold in anger."

You out your face in your hands, to stop him from seeing that you're blushing. Then you decide not to. You get up, and sit beside him.

"Laurance, I've been thinking for a while, I need to find my father. I just need to."

"I don't know, that would be a long journey, and would you be able to cope with-"

"I could!" You snap. "Sorry."

"It's okay. I was the same way, after what happened."

"How did you deal with it?"

"I kept thinking about the things that made me happy, and that let me keep my sanity while being transformed."

"Mine only took two weeks." You say,

"Maybe they wanted you out there, before people would worry about you too much. Maybe that's why you overcame it. Because this transformation was weak."

"Maybe." You say.

"I know that's why." Says Laurance, smiling.

"Hopefully, this one is weak as well."

"Yeah."

Laurance left soon after, causing you to leave as well. You're very cautious out here now, after what happened.

"Don't listen to him!" You shriek at the sudden voice from nowhere.

"He's trying to trick you!" Says another.

"Listen to us, we'll help you through!"

"No, no..." You breath heavily, trying to evict these voices.

"Nobody can help you except us!" The voices begin to laugh.

Laughing and laughing and laughing and laughing and laughing.

Crying and falling and screaming and darkness.
