I stood in front of the large wooden door of my friends house, still nervous and frustrated. My knuckles reached for the door and I tapped three times. I heard muffled voices, then the handle of the door moved, and Suga emerged from the opening crack. I smiled, politely, and remembered the last time, me and him spoke, when I gave a full fledged request, which got him and Tibs together in the first place. He mutely ushered me in, and motioned me to sit.
The silence was getting a little awkward, so I was the first to break it.
"Suga, where is Tayyibah?"
Upon hearing this, he blushed, and replied, "Oh, she is in the bathroom. She'll be out in a minute "
As he said the last sentence, I saw Tayyibah bounding down the stairs, wearing a black shirt and baggy corduroy pants, looking ultra cool. I gave a her a quick smile.
She sat, and and asked, "So, what do you wanna do? Watch a movie or something?"
In my head I thought, Lets go to the museum, see if the exhibits can come to life in the day time?
But the closest response to that was, "Shall we go to out? The weather is kinda nice, we could go for a walk or something?"
Suga and Tayyibah both nodded, and both got up. I already had my shoes on, and the couple both proceeded to get theirs. After a few minutes, I opened the door, and we walked down the steps onto the side walk.
Tayyibah had her fingers lovingly interlocked with Suga's, and that made me smile like an idiot. I walked a few paces ahead of them, in case I caught the kissing again, but that wasn't a good solution anyway, because I could definitely hear the smooching sounds behind me. I don't mean to be offensive, but sometimes that is distracting, especially if your the third wheel.
I stopped suddenly when I walked past the museum. I took a few strides backwards, and my legs urged to walk through the glass doors. Tayyibah and Suga were left confused, but they followed me in anyway. My legs stared a steady pace, then sprinted to the Egyptian exhibit.
There it was, the coffin of my boyfriend, and the tablet seemingly glowing, in my mind of course. I walked towards it, just as I was lured in the same way before. Talk about deja vu. Unconsciously, my hands made the way toward the tablet, and before I knew it, I started messing with the pieces on it. I saw Akhmenrah do the same when he showed me the tablet for the first time.
