Dan Howell waits in the room with his mum. The doctor had just taken a blood and pee sample from him and asked them to wait for the results of the test.
"It's going to be alright." Diane tries to calm the stressful boy by cooing those soothing words and rubbing circles around his back. "You're going to be fine."
The doctor walks back into the room holding some papers in her hand. "Hello, Mr. Howell. Thank you for your patience. We finally have your results."
Dan and his mum look up at her in their chairs. "What's wrong with me?" Dan cries, feeling all the stress build up in him.
The doctor clears her throat. "Well, I'm going to have to ask you a few questions, Mr. Howell." Dan nods his head. "Okay, when you came in here you claimed that you were feeling nausea and throwing up, is that correct?"
"Y-yes."
"Have you noticed any signs of weight gain, mood swings, fatigue, or anything else?"
Dan pulls down on his shirt roughly, it did feel a bit tighter than usual and when they took their vitals earlier the scale did read a number that was more than his last check. "I guess I have gained some weight." He replies. "Though I haven't noticed anything else. Mom?" He looks to his mom to see if she recognizes any unusual behavior from him.
"I think he has been overreacting a little easier than he has been." Diane replies then she clears her throat. "Excuse me, but what is this all about?"
"Well, you see, all the tests came back positive for pregnancy." Diane chokes on her saliva and Dan's eyes widen in surprise.
"Ex-excuse me?!" Diane couldn't believe her ears. She looks at her son who is now bursting into tears. "Pr-pregnant?! There must be some mistake?!"
"I'm afraid not." The doctor replies. "Dan seems to have the carrier gene in him which means its all very possible for him to carry a child."
"Bu-bu-Dan?!" His mother can't hold back her feelings at this moment.
"Phil. . ." Dan whispers and looks down at his shoes. "It has to be Phil's." He wraps his arms around his flat abdomen where life is growing inside him.
Diane looks at her son quizzically. "Ph-Phil?"
"I suppose he's the other father?" The doctor asks Dan and Diane.
"He's the only one I um. . . I. . ." Dan stutters.
"Quite" Diane says and shoots daggers at her son.
"Well, I'll sort out an appointment for you at the Male Carrier Clinic, but first, would you like to see your child?"

The ride home is quiet. Diane has focused her attention to the road while Dan stares contemplatively out the window. The only sound comes from the car radio humming out a tune.
How is Dan going to tell Phil that he is five weeks pregnant with their child? Just a couple hours ago he didn't even know he is carrier and now he has a baby growing inside him. His mother seems to understand what Dan is thinking about so she finally breaks the silence.
"So. . . when are you going to tell him?" She asks, peeking over for a second to look at Dan. "And how? I don't think Phil will be expecting the 'p' bomb."
"I don't know." Dan replies and takes a peek down at the picture of his unborn child in his hands. "Will he even accept it, mum?"
"If he doesn't then he's not worth all you are." Diane replies.
