"Happy birthday!" Dan is awaken by his mum, dad, and brother standing at his bedside holding a birthday present.

Dan laughs as he sits up in bed. "Thanks guys." He takes the present from them. "What could this be?" He ponders out loud.

"Just open it." Dan's father tells him.

Diane elbows him. "Alan. . ."

Dan and Adrian laugh as Dan unwraps the present he was presented. Dan reveals a small blue onesie. He looks down at the tiny piece of clothing. "This year we decided to get you something for your baby." Diane tells him.

"It's adorable." Dan smiles at his parents and brother. "Thank you so much, everyone."

Diane takes Dan into a hug and runs a hand down his hair. "You're welcome, sweetheart. I love you."

"You too." Dan mumbles.

Adrian and Alan leave but Diane stays back. "I was thinking we could get the crib up today. Yeah, how does that sound?"

Dan chuckles and rests his head on Diane's chest. "Okay, mum." Diane rests a hand on her son's stomach and Dan lays his hand on hers. "Do you think we're ready for this?" He asks Diane.

"You." She says. "I've already completed my task as parent. It's up to you now. Are you ready for this?" Dan closes his eyes as they sit there. "And I think you are. Dan, you're such an amazing boy and there's so much potential for you and you and Phil are two tremendous human beings. You two as fathers, I can't wait to see, because I know you will be good."

Dan feels his cheeks heat up as the tears slide down them. In almost a month from now, he is going to be a father; he and Phil. This is going to happen and there's no going back; might as well be. And if his mum says so, he must be.

"Now, what about that crib?" Dan's stomach growled just as Diane asks that. "Or breakfast?"

"Breakfast sounds good." Dan chuckles.

Dan sets his plate in the sink and the doorbell sounds. He looks at his parents quizzically and his parents give him the same look back. No one in the house could imagine who would be at the door.

"Did you invite someone over that I was unaware of?" Dan asks Diane and Alan who both shake their heads.

"Not that I'm aware. . ." Alan responds.

Adrian stands up from the table. "I'll go answer it." He tells them in the same confused voice as the rest of his family.

Dan takes a seat back at the table as they wait for Adrian to return with whoever rang the bell.

"Dan!" It's Adrian calling for his brother. Dan stands and makes his way to the front door. He is shocked to see why Adrian has called for him.

"Phil" Dan says quietly as Phil takes him into an embrace.

"I wanted to surprise you." Phil smiles into the hug and kisses the side of his face. "Happy birthday, Bear."

"Thank you so much. You just made my day a whole lot better." Dan whispers to him.

"I'll. . . leave you two." Both boys hears Adrian's words and footsteps backing away from them. This left Dan and Phil to themselves.

Phil pulled away from Dan. "I hope your family doesn't mind that I plan on staying the night." He gesture down at the overnight bag next to his feet.

"No, of course not." Dan shakes his head. "I don't think they'll mind at all."

Phil smiles and gets down on his knees. He unzips the bag and pulls out a small wrapped box. "I'm not the only present for your special day." He says as he holds up the box for Dan to take.

"You didn't have to-"

"But I wanted to. Now open it."

Dan pulls apart the wrapping paper and is presented with an all white mug, well, except for the "World's Greatest Father" scrawled in rainbow letters on the front of it.

Dan pulled a huge grin to Phil and wrapped him in another hug. "Thank you." He says to him. "I love it, but I believe this mug is a lie."

Phil pulls away and squints his eyes at Dan. "What do you mean it's a lie?"

Dan hands the mug back to Phil. "Because our son's best father is standing right in front of me." Phil chuckles and blushes. "And what are we doing still standing in the front door. Come in and say 'hi' to the rest of us."

Dan, Diane, and Phil all sat up in Dan's room later that day. Diane and Phil are on the floor reviewing the directions to building the crib as Dan rests on his bed watching them.

"Thank you for the help, Phil." Diane tells him, leaning over to grab the first piece of the crib. "I was just going to have Alan or Adrian help me but when you suggested you'd help. . ."

"It's my pleasure, Diane. I want to help out as much as possible, I really felt like I've become a part of the family."

"It's because you are." Diane rests a hand on Phil's knee. Dan smiles from behind them. "You and Dan are having a baby together, of course you are in our family."

Dan smiles and rests a hand on his bump. If he turns out to be anything like his mum, then he's ready to become a parent himself, and he's confident that Phil is too.
