It's Monday morning and I'm tired, but I can't wait to see Raine.
Luckily, no one has sat by me since the 'Hannah Incident', and I plan to keep it that way. But of course, when the bus pulls up at the second stop, Hannah gets on the bus and chooses to sit by me.
"Hey," she says.
"What d'you want?" I ask grumpily.
"I heard about you and Raine- congratulations."
"Is that is?" I ask, "are you going to leave now?"
Hannah sighs, "I thought having a girlfriend would change you (even if that girl wasn't me), but you're the same- moody and and arrogant."
Wow. That isn't awkward at all.
"I'm just like that with you," I say.
Ok, ok, I'm like that with most people, but it was a good comeback all the same.

I meet Raine outside of the school gates, greeting her with a kiss.
"Hey beautiful," I say, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Hello," Raine replies, a cute smile on her face.
"Ohmygosh! Is that Raine and Marc?!"
"It is!"
"I can't believe it!"
"I can, he obviously liked her- remember the fight with Kieron?"
"Never saw it coming."
"Aren't they just the cutest?"
"What about Maddie and Gregory? They were frigging adorable!"
"Maddory ended in October!"
"Who would've thought he'd get a girlfriend?"
"They're head over heels!"
I smile at the chattering gossip around me. I'm guessing our relationship came as a surprise.

As we're in different year groups, Raine and I have no lessons together; which makes the morning drone on. So when the bell for lunch rings, it comes as a surprise.
"How was your morning?" I ask, setting my plate of pasta on the table, and sitting opposite my girlfriend.
"It was ok," she says, looking glum.
"What happened?" I ask, reaching across the table for her hand.
"In music, we were writing songs. Sir liked mine and made me sing it to the class."
"But you're great at music!"
"I'm good at the theory, composing and playing instruments- but I can't sing. Everyone laughed at me!"
How dare they!
"Anyone who messes with my girlfriend is a complete idiot. Where are they?" I ask, riding from my seat.
"Literally, the whole class. But don't worry about it."
"They upset you!" I protest.
"A hug would be a lot better," Raine says, as I sit beside her and embrace her.
This hug is nice- perfect even.
RING!
The bell had to ruin the moment. It just had to.

On the bus, Hannah sits as far away from me as possible.
Good riddance.
I really can't click with Hannah, yet there's something about her that I don't get; something that makes my heart beat just a little but faster.
But I love Raine; what's happening to me?
