Therapy Doesn't Help

It's been a week since I started therapy. My mom seems to be getting upset with me. She doesn't see why I can't just go back to being my normal self. I don't blame her, I keep having nightmares. Sometimes I even sleepwalk and make a mess around the house. My dad started drinking and staying out late at the bar. He's been under a lot of pressure since the day of my "accident" as mom calls it. He won't take my mom's side and all they have been doing is fighting. I've been spending a lot of time at the lake near my house with Alex. She's so sweet, and beautiful. Her hair is a beautiful color of blue, her skin is a silky texture and it shimmers in the sunlight making her pale skin look radiant. I haven't told anyone not even Annie, but I can't help but fall for Alex. She makes my heart beat fast when I look at her. We get along so well, and she's been helping me with my depression that started thanks to my "accident."

"Maddy! Meet me at the lake" yells Alex knocking me out of my deep thoughts.

"I'll meet you down there in five minutes Alex!" I say and rush to my room to change my outfit. I picked out a flirty but casual outfit so she doesn't get the idea I like her. I finish getting dressed and rush down to the lake. Alex is sitting at the edge with her feet in it. I slowly sit down next to her and her face looks upset.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?" I ask

She sits there for a couple of minutes without a word. Then she slowly turns her head and looks at me, "I... I want to know something" she stuttered "do you like me?"

I hesitate with my answer but I finally answer "yeah I do, why?"

She looks down and starts to tear up. She shakes her head and hesitates to speak.

"I can't do this Maddy, my parents said if you like me we can't be friends anymore."

"Alex I like you, yeah but I won't try to make us more than what we are. Best friends that's all we have to be"

"I knew you'd say that but they said if you said yes they'll keep me inside away from you at all times"

"But Alex I..."

"I have to go Maddy" she says interrupting me as she gets up and runs back to her house...
