The Test

As the demon opens the door to my room, I feel the ache in my body grow increasingly painful. I don't know what is wrong with me, in fact I don't even know where I am. What if this is where I die? I won't even get to say goodbye to my mom and dad, or even my best friend who I haven't talked too since she moved. Yet as the demon like creature moves closer to me all my thoughts fade away and I wince in pain. The demon reaches out it's hand to touch my wrist. To the touch it surprisingly cools down as if it's healing me and taking away my pain. Soon all the pain I had felt just a second ago is completely gone. I look up with tears of pain slowly fading from my eyes. As I make eye contact with the demon I soon realize it's a female, to be exact a female I can point out from my life. I can't remember her name but I feel as though we have a special bond. As one would have with a sister that they cherished while growing up. Soon the demon speaks to me, not with harsh tone as I would have expected, but a soft caring voice that's calms me.

"Hello Maddy, I know you might not remember me but I'm so glad you're back. We've waited so long to see you again, I was devastated we couldn't do anything to keep you here when they came and took you away" she says with tears almost pouring out.

I gather the courage to speak to her, "who are you and where am I?" I try to say it as nicely as I can but due to the confusion I'm in, it comes out a little harder than intended.

"Ah, I see you're probably scared and confused right now" she replies with a hint of sadness. "I'm Minerva and you're in what we come to call the Beyond"

I furrow my eyebrows in disappointment as if I've been lied too. What does she mean the Beyond? This isn't some movie, you only hear things like that which involve supernatural entities and powers.

"Is this some kind of joke? I want the truth, where am I and why am I here?" My tone grows angry and I'm unable to hide my temper. I can tell by her face I've upset her as well, maybe she thought I was stupid enough to believe her little prank so I triggered her by proving her prank unsuccessful.

Her tone is more serious and angered than before, "I told you, you're in what is called the Beyond whether you wish to believe it or not. I'm not suppose to say why you're here unless you truly don't know and I can tell quite clearly you don't" her voice trails off.

With a sudden gasp for air she begins to talk again.
"You may not believe this, nor would you want too. Although all that I am about to say is true, and I wish you'll think it through clearly. I'm you're sister, and this is where your home is. Mom and dad have been waiting years to see you again. They're afraid for your life and the dangers that are to come due to the fact you're here. If you're here this means people know about your life and plan to use you to get to our world. We have fought long and hard to keep rule over this world and we want you too fight for it as well. Serena, our cousin, has predicted you're currently in what the humans call a test, and with this test they'll be able to get a glimpse into our world. You need to wake yourself up and fight for us, I know this sounds crazy but if this test is successful, there is a good chance they have the advantage to attack us and take over our world, our home, our childhood somethi..."

Minerva's voice begins to trail off and I feel myself gaining consciousness. When I wake Alex is standing in front of me with a smirk on her face.

She gives a suggestive look as if she got what she wanted and begins to speak, "our test has been completed and I can't thank you enough for the support. Although I do wish Minerva hadn't spilt the beans about our past life. It's quite a shame to bring up matter without the best friend present" she says with a evil tone in her voice.
