~Alaine's POV~
I woke up with Talen's arm's around my waist, turning around I smiled at his sleeping figure. His hair was spread out in all directions and he was dribbling onto the pillow. Laughing softly I poked his cheek to wake him up. I let out a squeak when he all of a sudden opened his eyes and flipped me over so that he was on top of me and had both my hands pinned above me. Breathing heavily from the movement his eyes flashed green then he leant down attached his lips to my neck, a quiet moan escaped my mouth surprising both him and me.
"Did you just moan?" He asked, his voice a little breathless and husky.
"Uhh I..." I started staring up at him wide eyed, instantly covering my mouth.
"Fuck that was hot" he breathed. before I could reply he leant back down and kissed the same spot on my neck causing me to drop my hands and moan again. He then started to suck and nibble at my neck, his fangs brushing against my skin causing goose bumps to travel across my body. "Talen" I whimpered as the burning in my throat returned.
"mm" he replied continuing to do what he was doing. Not being able to bear the burning anymore I flipped us over so that I was on top and pinned his hands down lowering my head to his neck. I could hear the blood pulsing through his veins, making it harder to resist. All of a sudden the burning in my throat spread to the rest of my body like I was burning from the inside out, I yelped and I jumped off of him scrambling to the corner pressing my back against it.
"Alaine what's wrong?", Talen asked rushing down into a crouch in front of me. He grabbed my hand and his eyes widened, "You're burning up! like really burning up. W-wait here I'll go get some help okay, stay put Alaine."
I nodded then out of nowhere a wave of heat washed over me making me gasp at the pain. Talen, seeing how much I was suffering, bolted out of the room and within around 15 minutes was back with the figure in the red cloak from earlier. Just as he came down to a crouch in front of me I yelled out as heat worst then last time washed over me again. Talen went to grab my hand but yelped and pulled his hand away.
"She's burnt up more, I can't even touch her now" Talen said, his eyebrows furrowed in worry shaking out his burnt hand, "Is there anything we can do Holly?" he asked the woman in the red cloak.
"This is the fledgling that lit up all the elemental crystals correct?, she asked Talen kneeling down in beside him. he nodded in conformation. Holly continued studying my current state carefully, "It seems her fire element is kicking in but I've never seen it like this before, especially in this form."
"The most I can do right now is try and get Brandon to cool her down, I'll go get him you stay with her okay", Holly rushed out before racing out of the room.
Another wave washed over me making me scream out, I started to see stars and felt lightheaded. "No no no, Alaine stay with me" Talen panicked, trying to get me to focus on him.
The stars in my vision almost blocked out my entire sight when a sudden coolness hit my skin. I sighed as it cooled me down instantly, my vision clearing instantly I saw the blue cloaked figure from earlier, he must be Brandon. I gave him a small smile in thanks, I was still too hot for it to be comfortable but it was better than feeling like I was burning from the inside out. I looked down and saw there was water flowing across my skin, some of it evaporating into steam due to how hot I was.
I screamed out all of a sudden when the burning returned worse than before, completely evaporating all the water on my skin immediately. The burning then all moved over to my left arm. As it travelled down my arm a tribal sort of pattern started to burn into my skin stretching from my elbow to the back of my hand. It looked as if there was a fire under my skin, burning through.
As it moved down, branching off around my forearm, the heat disappeared with it only lingering inside the pattern. Once the heat was completely gone I was left with a design looking as if fresh coals were on my arm. Holly reached over and traced it saying in astonishment, "I-It's burning hot, I've never seen anything like this"
"What is happening and why is this happening to me but no one else?" I whimpered cradling my arm to my chest, noticing that the burning pattern on my arm got brighter the more upset I got.
"That's what us Elder's have been trying to figure out young one", Brandon spoke, his voice barely above a whisper.
"We'll find out what's going on don't worry", Holly reassured, giving Brandon a worried side glance, she then turned to Talen, "We shall leave you two rest now, keep an eye on her and let us know immediately if anything else happens or if either of you need assistance."
Talen nodded and led them out of the room, then came back and helped me stand up, I was still a little dizzy and almost fell over but Talen steadied me. I looked up at him and then the water works started, he instantly pulled me into his arms without saying anything and let my cry.
When I had finished crying and I had pulled myself together, I wiped away at the tears in my eyes and hugged Talen again, "Thankyou Talen, I don't know what I would do without you."
He hugged me back and replied, "It's no problem Alaine, we all break down sooner or later and it's best to just let it all out instead of holding it all in." I smiled and grabbed his hand and led him over to the door, "Is it okay if we go for a walk? I need to get some air", he smiled and nodded, "There's a garden that we can go to, it's a nice to place to go to and clear your thoughts."
I opened the door and giggled, "Lead the way then." Talen then walked in front of me, pulling me along by our intertwined hands. We walked down the pathway to the left and soon found ourselves in the garden Talen was talking about. It was a large open area with a large arrangement of trees, bushes and flowers etc. The moonlight shone through the glass ceiling of the area and reflected from the water surface of the pond nearby to the right of where we were standing. I let go of his hand and, following the stone pathway, steadily approached the centre of the garden where a giant tree towered over all the other plant life.
The tree's branches reaching as high as the glass ceiling and as wide as half the area, the moonlight reflecting off the leaves giving the impression that it was made of silver. it truly was a sight to behold. I gently walked to the tree and put my hand on it's surface, feeling the rough bark underneath my palm. Feeling at peace I breathed in the fresh air around me and allowed myself to relax for the first time after waking up. A shadowed figure appeared in the corner of my sight and assuming it was Talen I turned around with a smile on my face ready to jump into his arms only to come face to face with someone I thought I wouldn't see ever again, the smile completely wiping off my face.
