Chapter 19:
Kristy and I had been stuck in traffic, but she got me back to James' place safely. When I got back into the house I found James and Dale in the living room watching basketball and talking about the party. They were caught up in their conversation they didn't even notice when I walked into the living room. I wanted to be annoying, so I squeezed myself in between them both smiling in their faces."Are you serious, don't be rude. I know you noticed we were having a conversation." Dale said annoyed and with an attitude. I was shocked because Dale never talked to me like that.
"Dale what is wrong with you? You don't have to be like that with her, she obviously just wants to be apart of our conversation." James stuck up for me.
"This is between me and my sister, stay out of it." Dale snapped at James.
"I'm just trying to figure out what your problem is, you're being mean to Deedee for no reason. She can be your sister, but I won't allow you to talk to her like that." James snapped back at James. I was surprised he was standing up for me.
"You must be out of your mind talking to me like that." Dale got up in James' face and he looked like he was about to swing at him.
I couldn't believe they were arguing and practically about to fight each other because of me. I didn't even think I did anything, yes I had got in the middle of them, but I didn't think it would be a big deal to lead to this.
"Are you going to do something about it?" James was testing Dale's patience and I knew I now had to do something before it escalated.
"Are you serious? Stop it!" I yelled stepping in between them. "All of this was not necessary at all, I just wanted to join in on the conversation. Not start a fight between the two of you." I had been very confused, upset with James and Dale for making a big deal out of nothing.
"We were only talking about the party, nothing important." Dale said nonchalantly like nothing happened.
"Oh well I want to know what's going on. After all I will be helping out now too." I let Dale and James know I was serious. "Now sit back down before I have to make you."
Dale and James sat down without saying a word, I was surprised at myself I didn't even know I had that in me to be honest. "Now what's going on with the party?"
"Tomorrow Dale and I are going to go shopping for snacks and drinks." James said. "Do you want to come too?"
"No, I'll stay here and decorate. If we're going to be throwing a party at the house, I at least want to help make it look presentable." I informed them.
"You sure? I don't really want to leave you alone." Dale asked me.
"Yes, I'll be fine. It also didn't sound like I was included in the plans to go with y'all to begin with anyway. Also do you approximately know how many people are coming? I'm sure you have a list of names or something. That will be good to know so you know how much snacks and drinks to buy." When it came to parties, I may have not liked attending them. But I was very organized and could plan a party. I had to make sure Dale and James knew what they were doing.
"Well according to the list I had and Dale had, I think we should have about fifty people showing up." James said.
"That's it?" Dale sounded disappointed.
