This chapter is quite juicy! No sex scene, but I'm kind of tempted... I hope you all enjoy this chapter that took me forever to write because I didn't know how to make this work.
Chapter 32
"We're having a pizza eating contest, come downstairs!" Mom yelled to get our attention.
"Race you down!" Dale said to me running by me never even giving me a chance to process what he just said.
"Wait, you cheater, you didn't even give me a chance." I got off the bed and ran running past Dale once we got on the stairs. "Aha, I won." I teased knowing Dale let me win anyways.
"So what. I caught a cramp in my leg ugly, but I would've won." Dale lied.
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes.
Mom, Dale and I sat in the living room on the floor surrounding the box of pizza and watching Spongebob waiting for the contest to begin. "On your mark, get set, go." Mom yelled and we all reached for the pizza and began devouring. I as, always loving pizza reached my fifth pizza when Dale was on his third and mom was on her fourth.
"Let's play never have I ever..." Dale suggested in between bites of pizza.
"Why do you like that game if you always lose?" I said laughing.
"Because-" The sound of the front door opening cut Dale off and dad entered the living room.
"Hi, Dad." I ran up to dad jumping on him and giving him a hug.
"Hey sweetie, what's going on here?" Dad asked giving me a kiss on my forehead and I could smell that he wrecked of alcohol.
"U-um a pizza eating contest," I answered nervously because this is the second time this week dad came home drunk.
"Hey honey, how was work?" Mom got up from the floor walking closer to dad to give him a hug.
"Please not right now Dayna I had a long day at work and I just want to shower and go to bed," Dad said slowly.
"Have you been drinking again?" Mom asked once she was at a close enough distance to smell the alcohol.
"Dammit Dayna, does it matter?" Dad yelled startling both Dale and me.
"Why are you doing this John?" Mom asked.
"Don't ask questions you don't want the answers too." Dad started walking away, but mom grabbed onto his arm pulling him back to face her. "Are you out of your mind?" Dad yelled and raised his hand slapping mom right across the face making her stumble back a bit.
Knock! Knock! The knock on the door woke me up from the dream/flashback I had of the very first time John had hit my mom.
Last night I fell asleep on the couch cuddled with James while we were watching American Horror Story and I could tell James didn't want to wake me up because he carried me bridal style to bed. I was going to wake up and tell him that I could walk on my own, but I was too tired and lazy so I just let him take me to bed. Now it's 11 in the morning and I'm just laying in bed thinking about James' past and how bad he had it, I always thought my life was rough, but I always have to remember that there is someone out there who has it worse than me.
I just didn't think that someone would be James.
Anyway, I wanted to cry with him, I couldn't believe his mom did something like that. There's been times after John killed my mom, that I wished I were dead so I could see her and all the pain would go away, but now I'm glad I'm still alive, it's been making me stronger. I'm thankful for the people I have in my life now. I do wish they could catch John already, it would put me more at ease. But right now I'm going to live in the moment until they do catch him.
