You lay on the roof of your garage, staring peacefully up at the night sky. The stars twinkle back at you, and you can feel your eyes getting heavy with sleep.
But you are far too full of wonder to let sleep overcome you, and instead scan the star-lit sky, appreciating the view from the country rooftop.
You and your friends had all rented an old house out in the country for the year, not really caring how shitty it was. You were all just turning eighteen, meaning you could finally leave the house and be your own people. Frank, Mikey, Ray, Gerard and you all planned on being in a band, but had to wait for about a year before Mikey could drop out and join you. So you all decided to have a but of fun, out on your own. This was your 5th night, and you still had no regrets.
Suddenly, you spot a shooting star streak across the sky, and smile to yourself.
Then, you hear the ladder leading up to the garage creak, meaning someone was coming up.
You sit up to see who it is and spot Gerard's head pop up at the edge, a grin spread across his face.
"Hey," he says, crawling the rest if the way onto the roof and scooting over next to you.
"Hey," you respond, feeling a smile tug at the edges of your lips.
Gerard lays down next to you and lets out a breath.
"So, watcha doin?" he asks.
"Nothing, really." you respond.
"That sounds boring."
"It's not, really," you tell him, "you just have to relax."
Gerard sighs and slowly slides his hand into yours, acting casual.
You feel your cheeks heat up and intertwine your fingers in his.
"You know, this is pretty nice." Gerard finally states.
