"Do you think I went too far?" I asked yet again. I was over at Marc's house lying across his bed; his head nestled on my stomach. It was Thursday night; he's been so busy with studying and work we didn't have any time together. The only way his mom would allow me to see him was if we were studying. So that's just what we're doing. Just talking a little break.

"Honestly, I think you didn't go far enough. You were showing her she can't push you around. So you did a good job." He looked up at me and smiled. My worries on going too far with Trinity melted away as I smiled back at him.

"Plus nothing new has happened. No hints on your cutting, no sneers. As a matter of fact no Trinity. Do you think it's weird we haven't seen her at all these last few days?" He asked.

I shook my head. "James has been sick these last few days. My parents are away for business so she offered to stay home." I paused. "Actually he begged her to stay home, and not me."

He gave me a small smile. "Sucks that he's sick, but it's also a good thing. We don't have to deal with her hinting at..." He glanced at my wrists.

At his glance I couldn't help but feel ashamed. I always felt good when I cut, Independent, separated, free of Trinity. Cutting was my way of getting away and now I wanted nothing more than to run away from it. But it was there, it will always be there. I've dug the blade too far into my skin, leaving scares. Cutting has branded me.

Seeing my embarrassment he lifted his head and crawled up so he was beside me. I kept my eyes averted from his face. But he cupped my cheek and turned my head so I had to look at him. When his eyes met mine he leaned down slightly and placed a soft kiss on my lips, never once breaking eye contact.

"Don't be embarrassed, Tay. I've accepted that a cutting is a part of you. I haven't nor will I ever judge you. It's just a tiny bump in the road." His voice soft and soothing, telling nothing but the truth.

I wrapped my arms around his neck as he began to get up, and pulled him back down. Caught off balance he landed on top of me causing me to laugh.

"Tay, we have to get back to work." He said trying to look serious, but his smile gave him away. I shook my head.

"Just a little while longer, please?" I begged pouting slightly. I watched his face relax and he nodded making me break out in a huge grin.

"But only for five minutes. We have a test tomorrow." He told me sternly, I shrugged his tone off and nodded again before pulling him into a kiss.

Just as promised five minutes later we were sitting at his desk quizzing each other for the test tomorrow. Sadly I had to sit on a separate chair, not his lap like I usually would. He didn't want his siblings to come in his room and see something.

A knock on the door pulled us out of the study mode. Marc shouted a come in cutting me off from the question I was answering. His mom walked in catching me off guard. Ever since Marc told me about her and Dave I couldn't help but feel awkward around her.

"Dinners ready." She said smiling at me.

"Is it that late?" I looked at my phone seeing the time. "Oops, sorry I didn't think it was late, I should be going." I said gathering up my notes and books.

"You don't have to go so soon, we set a place for you." She reassured me. I looked over at Marc only to see him look at his mom with distant eyes, as if he didn't know her.

"Uh, thanks but I don't want to extend my-"

"It's the least we can do, and you know I don't take no for an answer." She said sternly. I gulp back my sarcastic reply of 'Of course you don't, you didn't say no to Dave'. Instead I smiled at her and nodded. She glanced at Marc before leaving.
