"Hey, Mom. Hey, Dad. Don't you think date night is a great idea?"

My parents had just gotten home from work and were kicking off their shoes when I suggested they go on a date. It would be their second time out in two days, but they wouldn't know that. And neither would their wallets. The money miraculously reappeared this morning.

"That does sound lovely," Mom replied. "But honey, what about your party? I have to make that big batch of fettucini."

"Oh, no need. I canceled my party."

"You WHAT?!" she shrieked.

"Yeah...no one could come, so I decided to cancel. I hope that's alright."

"Well...I guess it's fine. But you've been planning this party for years! Don't you want to have it?"

"It wouldn't be as fun without all my friends there." Trust me, I would know.

"I guess that's true. Maybe you could reschedule for next weekend? That way you could still have the party of your dreams, and everyone would be able to come."

Yeah, great idea. If next weekend ever gets here! I thought to myself. "Good idea," I said. "Well, have fun on your date."

"Are you sure you want us to go out? I don't want you to be all alone on your birthday."

"It's okay. I don't mind," I said. And I really didn't. Besides, Cameron was still coming over. Even if I wasn't supposed to know that.

"Well...okay. Have fun." She went upstairs, where my dad had disappeared earlier, and got dressed for their date.

Finally, they left. "We'll be back around midnight," Dad told me.

"Okay."

Perfect. Should be plenty of time to get that kiss from Cameron! That is, if he actually wanted to kiss me. I already knew I'd have to work to get it. As far as I knew, he didn't even like me like that. Well, looks like I'd have to make him!
