A LOADED PHONECALL
"Hello?"
"Tom?"
"Bill?"
"Yeah, it's me."
"What's up?"
"I asked Grammy about, y'know, us."
"And what did she say?"
"She said... we are long-lost twins."
"Wow."
"Yeah, I know. But there's more."
"Huh?"
"Yeah. Apparently, a week before our parents died, they gave you to Gordon's parents and me to Grammy to take care of. And then they died. And they forbid us to be reunited with each other. Oh, and we couldn't contact each other either."
"..."
"Um, Tom?"
"..."
"Tom? You still there?"
"Yeah."
"Whadaya think?"
"I don't know what to think."
"Me either."
"..."
"..."
"But... why did they separate us?"
"As to that, I don't know. And neither does Grammy."
"Huh."
"Uh, why don't you ask your- I mean, our Grandma?"
"Yeah, about that. She yelled at me for sticking my nose into other people's business. Then, when I told her it was my business, she sent me to my room. Like I was 5 or something."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"..."
"So, twin, wanna hang out somewhere? I can't sit around at home like this, I'll go insane. And maybe we can talk about the whole family issue."
"Sure. How about the Starbucks at- Hey wait a second. Where do you live?"
"Oh, yeah, right. Um, number 21, Iero Street. Y'know, near DRDD park?"
"Oh, I've always wanted to live there."
"Trust me, it's not that great a place to live. Where do you live?"
"Number 4, Korse Street. It's not that far from your place, really."
"Yeah, a friend of mine lives near there."
"So, I'll meet you at the Starbucks at Gee Avenue in 15 minutes, alright?"
"Yeah, sure. I'll see you there."
"Bye."
"Bye."
