This was so not working. Nope. It was not working at all- in fact it was a complete disaster. The boys and Jacob were not getting along at all, and by at all I mean they were hardly even looking at each other, forget about talking. I was seated in between Louis/Niall and Jacob on the boys' living room couch, some soccer match playing on the TV. My hands were folded together in front of me and I was looking back and forth between the boys and Jake- who extremely rudely, had been scrolling around on his phone for the past 10 minutes.
"Soo.. Jake, why dont you tell the boys about that psych project you've been working on?" I piped in, hoping to stir up a conversation, knowing that project had really excited Jacob when he first found out about it.
Jacob looked up cluelessly and stared at me for a moment before turning his gaze to the other side of the couch and onto the boys.
"Yeah... I've been working on this cool new project for psych."
and that was it. With that he turned his attention back to his phone and continued with whatever he was doing. I looked to the boys and saw them all looking back at me. Louis shrugged at me and I narrowed my eyes back at him. "Do something" I harshly whispered at him and he nodded, understanding.
"So... Jacob... you're majoring in psychology then?" Louis asked.
"Mmhmm.." Jacob mumbled, not even glancing up from his phone.
It suddenly got extremely awkward in the room, the only sound audible from the tv.
"Um" I cleared my throat and got up. "Jacob can we have a word please. Right now."
He looked up at me and shrugged before following me out of the room.
"What has gotten into you?" I asked him crossing my arms.
"What?"
"You said you would give this a try."
"And I did.. it didn't work so I'm done."
"It didn't work because you didn't put enough effort into it."
"Noo... I put ENOUGH effort into it, I just didn't go above and beyond."
"So this is how little this means to you?"
"I dont get it Daina... this was never a big deal to you before, why now."
"Actually it was always a big deal to me."
"Is that so?" He asked, now crossing his own arms.
"Seems to me like you dont know Daina here as well as you claim to." A voice from the doorway spoke and we both snapped our heads to see Harry standing there. Jacob let out a cynical laugh and I already knew this was not going to go well.
"Harry, don't... Jake you either."
"No no, I'd like to hear more of what you've got to say of OUR relationship." Jacob laughed and walked closer towards Harry. "Please do continue."
"Well.. Josh... was it? In my opinion, which as you can see does seem to matter to Daina, you dont know her at all, or what is important to her."
"Well why dont we test that 'hypothesis' of yours." Jacob challenged.
"All rights, it's a bet then." Harry said stepping closer the same time that Jacob did too.
"GUYS!" I stepped between them and pushed them both back even further. "Stop. Stop this right now. I am not a bet and neither is my relationship with either one of you, so fucking stop this right now. All I wanted was to introduce some of the most important people in my life to each other and to hopefully help them build some sort of a friendship or something, honestly I dont even know. But no... that was way too much to ask for."
And with that, I turned around, grabbed my coat and walked away from the two people who I absolutely could not talk to right at this moment... or possibly even for a while.
