Ringleader Pep walked out of the interview room. Jason was waiting for him outside and greeted him with a hat tilt."We're horrible people," Harold stated standing next to his partner.
"How so?"
"We wear hats indoors," Harold stated looking at his own.
"What does that have to do with anything?" Jason wanted to throttle his partner.
"It's bad luck, bad manners, not very gentleman like at all."
Jason rolled his eyes, but despite this he took the hat off and played with it in his hands. "Warning, faceless interviewer may ask for you next."
Jason shook his head as he hatted himself again. "No need. Our bosses already know I'm under their control, so they don't care about me, just the people I've hired."
"Have you told them this could reflect on your leadership?" Harold asked.
"No. That would've just made them nervous and then they would've probably incriminate me somehow, you too I might add."
"How are you going to explain why he doesn't interview Neon, Kid or Bee?"
"I won't if they don't ask," Jason replied. "None of their business unless they ask."
The interviewer came out of the room and walked to the Ringleaders. "Congratulations Mr Traveller. You've trained them well, but we both know the final decision comes from the bosses."
Jason nodded, "As it always does. When's the next one?"
"If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it?" they asked with a smile. "I'd like a private word with Jason, if that is okay?" he asked looking to Harold.
Harold looked to Jason before surrendering and dismissing himself.
"Surely you don't need my story too. There's literally nothing to it," Jason said leaning against the wall.
The shorter man looked up to the Ringleader and shook his head. "They know you're story Jason, they went after you after all. You're a first born demon, never been anything and never will most likely be reincarnated to be anything, and you were banished from the demon world for throwing a match against Harold Pep and soon after continuing to help a banished demon after the fact. On top of that, you attacked one of the realm council members and didn't eliminate all witnesses in certain situations."
"They were children, I found no need to kill them, they'd have forgotten on their own. If I had killed them then it was a pointless waste of life."
"That's surprising coming from a first born demon. They usually don't care."
"It's not so much I cared it was more... I didn't see the point," Jason explained. "That's why I'm in this business. I don't see the point in what half of these criminal like people do so I stop it. Besides, I'm banished, so it was a blessing in disguise."
"Yet our bosses can be cruel."
"They can be short sighted," Jason corrected.
"But do even our bosses know your real reason for picking who you picked?"
Jason shrugged, "Does that mean you've figured out how I've picked people?" Jason asked. "Take into account Harold chose some of them as well."
"Under your encouragement," the man reminded. "But yes, I can guess why you picked them. And I do believe I'm right."
Jason smiled and nodded, "Very well, enlighten me."
The man smiled, "They think it's because you offered them something they didn't have. They think you offered family, home, friendship and safety."
