I watched as Steven picked up a handful of silt piled on the damp ground and threw it on top of the casket. As much as I despised him sometimes, I still felt a twang of sadness in my chest for him. He hadn't been close to his grandfather, and I think that's what hurt him the most.

The sky opened up and a drizzle of rain poured over the solemn crowd. I looked into all of the faces. Tom Gregar had been a respectable, genourous, wealthy man and because of it he had made some well known friends. A mix of movie stars, army generals, singers, and politicians made up the group of people staring six feet into the ground.

A flicker of blue caught my eye and I looke to my left. Through the drab air I saw a bright blue umbrella with a clean cut young man standing underneath. A part of me wondered what group he belonged too. Maybe he was some kind of ornate glass blower from the home country of Steven's grandpa. It wouldn't surprise me.

The rest of the family finished their final goodbyes and we left, heading toward the dining hall for a reception. I was wrenched sideways from behind, a hand muffling my gasp. I calmed down a bit as I stared into the sandy colored eyes of my boyfriend.

"Listen to me." he spat, "Your gonna go in there and act like I am the best thing that ever happened to you. There will be no snippy comments or snide remarks. Only utter respect for everyone that has the misfortune of talking to you. Got it?"

I defiantly held his cold gaze. I knew what would happen if I didn't do what he said, but I could be just as hard headed and stubborn as him. He grabbed hold of my prominent ribs and squeezed. I bit down on his fingers making him slam me harder into the tree we were behind.

"I asked if you understand the words I'm saying!" He growled.

I begrudgingly nodded. Glaring into his eyes again I wrenched myself from his grasp and stormed across the wet ground.

"Oh, and Maddie " Steven called. " lay off the food tonight. Your getting big, disgusting pig. "

He chuckled as he made his way towards me. "C'mon. We need to get in." he wrapped his arm around my waist like any loving boyfriend would do and led me towards the lit building.

My bladder felt like it was going to burst as I pushed my way through the crowd, quite slowly. Had there been this many people here before? The bathroom door swung open with a slight push. Apart from the flies that had made their home on the ceiling the place was deserted, and I was grateful. Steven's family was being very overwhelming, and I knew one wrong move would cost me a lot.

I studied my reflection in the mirror.

Was he right? The horror showed in my reflection as I raised my top to show my waist. Was I getting bigger? I had been avoiding food for weeks trying to make sure I looked decent for him and I could tell I wasn't making any progress.

My hands felt shaky and cold as I ran them under water and splashed my face. Leaning in and looking into my own blue eyes. I like to think of myself as strong, but I'm not . I wanted to be beautiful, but I wasn't. Steven wanted someone good and skinny, but i'm not. And I'll never be.

Finally my bladder won over.
