Chapter 13

I checked my phone again, no texts from Maddie. I was sure she would have texted me and told me how things went.

"Eyes on the road, mate!" Louis yelled from the back of the car.

We were on our way home from the airport. They had just landed in the states and we were getting ready for the upcoming shows.

"Who are you worried about?" Liam grabbed my phone from imbetween us. "Whose Maddie?"

"Niall got 'imself a girl." Louis reached behind me and tousled my hair.

"Not quite." I grumbled. "She's a friend that I met at the funeral I came over here for."

"So..." Zayn started "Is she the friend that you stayed over here to help? What exactly did she need help with?"

"What's with the third degree guys?" Harry chimed in. "Who cares? Let's just get to the flat."

I thanked Harry silently and continued driving, drowning out the boys arguing around me.

Why hadn't she said anything? The more I tried to deny that she was in trouble, the more I worried. I mean sure, there was the possibility that everything had went smoothly and they were 'making up', but there was that little voice in the back of my head saying differently.

"C'mon Niall, whatever is on your mind just let it go. You look like someone is gonna stab you." one of the boys called.

I pushed Maddie to the back of my mind. Chiming in to the boys laughter.

The rain started to pour down and we all took turns telling jokes to help the ride pass by faster.

"And then she said.... What's that?" Zayn's face dropped and the rest of us looked at each other.

"She asked 'What's that?' that's kind of stupid.." Louis chuckled.

"No seriously!" Zayn exclaimed. "What's that!"

We all followed his pointing finger. A figure was sprinting down the side of the road. Whoever it was, they were soaking wet and in the dark night it was hard to even tell they were a person.

"Stop and help them!" yelled Liam as we got closer.

"Are you flippin mad, Liam?" Louis Joked. "What if they kill us?"

I slowed down as we approached them, and Liam opened his door.

"Its a girl." he said as we pulled closer.

"Liam! Stay in the car" Louis tried his best to talk some sense into him.

Before any of us could stop him he was out if the car and walking towards the girl. I watched as he pulled her face close and examined something. He put his hand over his mouth and led her to our car. Zayn crawled in the front with me and let Liam set in the back beside the girl.

"Gah, your soaking." Harry complained as he made room for the extra person.

Liam shot him a warning glare and put his arm around the small frame beside him.

"I'm Liam," he said to her "We're going to take you to our apartment, live. We aren't going to hurt you or anything. I promise."

"I don't mind." A small, somewhat familiar, voice mumbled.

"This is Harry, Louis, Zayn, and Niall." He introduced us one at a time. "do you mind telling us your name?"

I looked in the rear view mirror as she slowly lifted her head. The hood fell from her head an onto her shoulders, and familiar blue eyes stared at me.

I gasped and the car screeched to a hault.

"Maddie!?"
