NIALL'S POV

She wouldn't go through with this. She just couldn't!

Was she seriously going to look past everything that he had done to her?

I mean... Yeah. I didn't have exactly what you could call 'hard evidence' against him, but from what I witnessed at the restaurant, they didn't exactly have a healthy relationship.

Time seemed to slow down as I waited for Maddie's answer.

I was sure kicking myself now for not going up to them earlier. I had told myself to keep my distance and watch them, see how he treated her.

An now here I am, standing in a doorway while a gushy romantic scene played out in front of me.

As I judged it Steven had put on just enough of a show to be able to make her forget everything about their relationship, other than this moment.

"Please, Mads." he pleaded. " Without you I'll be miserable at best."

Was this dude seriously quoting lyrics? How fake is he? That's the second Mayday Parade reference he's used in last 15 minutes.

I had to admit though, he had good music taste.

I was wrenched from my thoughts as Maddie made a little noise. Like the words were caught in the back of her throat.

"I-I" she stuttered "Don't know..."

Maybe my luck had turned.

Her eyes nervously darted towards my direction. I didn't know if she knew I was here, or if she was thinking of running for the door.

"Do you need time? Time?" Steven actually seemed to be hurt by her caution.

"I just. Yeah, time."

She reached out an grabbed his hands.

"I do love you. And I would be thrilled to marry you. But, to look past everything you've done? I don't know if your saying your going to change. Or if your just digging me in further."

" I'm changing!" he said quickly.

"That's right" I said under my breath "You should be afraid to lose her."

"Please" he whimpered.

"Give me three days?" she asked.

"Yeah, yeah." he said " as much time as you need."

I got an excited feeling in my stomach. I had three day to convince her that she should say no.

But I had to be subtle about it.

MADDIE'S POV

I woke up the next morning not really knowing whether the previous nights events were real or not. If they were than today marks one of three days that I had to make my decision.

Three days.

Falling out of bed I walked to the mirror. A small sticky note was stuck in the corner.

'Out at the market. See you in a few hours XxX Steven'

Okay yeah, last night was definitely real, he never left notes like this.

I took a long look at myself in the mirror. 6 years. I had known Steven for six years. 2 of them had been spent in this relationship. All of them had been spent being abused and put down.

"What are you going to do?" I asked myself turning towards the bathroom.
