a/n: Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas from me ( + my dogs, Karlie and Taylor. Haha!) 😊
Anyway, all the codes belong to Avi Flombaum as I have zero knowledge on Ruby lol. This fic was inspired by that vine he made with Karlie at the Flatiron School over a year ago, and as requested by @tayslastkiss13 on tumblr!

It's a gloomy afternoon in New York City; the kind of weather that makes you want to stay in bed in your pajamas all day, cuddled up with a loved one under the covers. With the rain gently tapping against the windows and the cold wind freezing droplets of water against the glass.
Taylor and Karlie were glued to their king sized bed in the shared apartment, encapsulated in each other's warmth under the thick comforter draped over them. The blue-eyed blonde lazily clung herself to Karlie's side, as the younger girl sat up.
"Kaaaar, what in the world are you doing?" Taylor asks with a pout.
Although she already knew by the fact that Karlie reached for her laptop, Taylor was waiting for a confirmation that her girlfriend was playing with her programs and coding yet again.
"Just going over this program Avi showed me yesterday. Babe, check this out– it's so cool!" Karlie answers enthusiastically. She lightly tugs on Taylor's arm like a child, pointing out in excitement.
Taylor rolls her eyes lovingly at Karlie as she leans in closer to her girlfriend and looks at the screen. Whatever it was, Taylor was sure she would zone out within the first five minutes but she still tried to sit at attention for Karlie's sake.
She takes one look at the screen and immediately goes, Nope! Nuh-uh, I'm out. What even is all this?! How does Kar understand it all and not get overwhelmed by it??
A whole thick block of text, made up of code, stares back at Taylor from the screen.
"Babe...what is it exactly that I'm looking at right now?" she asks tentatively. Knowing full well Karlie had an answer to any and all of her questions and could go on hours on end explaining very detailed answers.
"Okay, hold the phone. First off, do you know you already have Ruby installed in your own laptop?"
"Uh...Ruby?"
"Oh my god, babe! You totally need to check out your Terminal app. It's right there and then you can start coding with me!" Karlie practically screams into Taylor's ear, "Just type in irb when the window opens. Wait, lemme show you here—"
Taylor lets out a sigh, unable to resist her girlfriend, "Okay, so what is this Ruby thing?"
"It's the programming language I use to code, Babe. Like look at this one we used to fly the Karlie-copter last time..."
Karlie points out every detail in the lines of her code, patiently explaining what each variable does and how it affects the program when it runs. She tells Taylor everything from the technical terms of arrays, blocks, & Boolean values, among other things.
"Kar, you know I love you with all my heart. And you know I'll always support you but baby, this is really boring, I'm sorry," Taylor blurts out laughing.
She hugs Karlie and playfully kisses at her neck while the younger girl tries to pull away, pretending to be offended.
Karlie eyes Taylor slowly; not saying anything even as her gaze moves from her girlfriend's face to the screen and back.
She remains quiet while opening up two different files of code simply labeled as: piano.rb and shake-it-off.rb. Not taking her eyes off of the screen, Karlie begins to run the program and awaits Taylor's reaction with a smug look already on her face.
Taylor immediately calms down from laughing as soon as she hears the music start to play.
That's 'Shake It Off'!, she recognizes.
Without a doubt, it was in fact her first single off of '1989' playing it's melody in digitized tones, blasting from the speakers.
"Wait, what— How did you even do this?! Oh my god, Kar, this is too amazing! I love this!!!" Taylor shouts.
She pulls the laptop closer to her, trying to see just how it works. Looking back at Karlie all wide-eyed and giddy, as the younger girl only raises an eyebrow at her and says, "Just less than five minutes ago you said this was 'boring'?"
Karlie can't help but laugh as Taylor's cheeks turn a shade of red and she's unable to meet the model's eyes.
"Did I? Did I really say that??" Taylor teases and feigns innocence.
She wraps Karlie's arms around herself and nuzzles against the curve of the taller girl's body. "Ugh, I love you so much, you dork."
"Oh Tay, you can never resist this dork's charms!" Karlie gives it right back to her with a smile, holding her close as they cuddled underneath the covers once more.
