"Your midterm requirement will be to create a functioning program using the concepts we've learned thus far. The objective of your program is entirely up to you, but it must be able to incorporate Conditional statements, Looping, Slicing..."

The professor's voice droned on and on, Karlie had zoned out right after he said the words "midterm requirement". She listened and took notes, but her mind was off wandering to thoughts about Taylor in the wake of their recent period of drifting apart and Karlie's own subsequent outburst at her.

We've spent so much time away from each other, and I haven't really talked to her even when she was in between tour shows! Plus that stupid dick move the other day. Why the hell did I have to snap at her like that?!, Karlie breathes a sigh, No wonder she's hurt and mad at me. I don't blame her, though.

She looks away from her notes and checks her phone, hoping for a message or missed call from Taylor, with no luck. Dejectedly, Karlie starts putting away her things as the bell signaling the end of class rings.

I need to fix this, she says to herself as she walks out of the room, I will fix this.

def enter():
  enter = input("Will you please hear me out for a sec? ")
  if enter == "okay"
     ineedtotellyou()
  else:
     print("Look at your phone, then.")

The line cracked and sizzled, making Taylor's voice hard to hear even with Karlie being in complete silence, "Hey, I've got a week off before I do the final US shows. I'll have you flown in and stay here with me! We'll have fun, I promise!"

"You know I want to, Taylor, but I don't think I can get away right now. I've got loads to do for school and they're all piled up, Midterms are like right around the corner."

"Even for just a day or two?" Taylor pleads, "Come on, Karlie, I haven't seen you since your birthday! And even then, we barely got any time to ourselves."

Karlie didn't need to see Taylor on Facetime to know she was disappointed, it was all in her voice. It hit her like a sucker punch to the gut but what could she do? She was way behind on schoolwork because of her real work and there wasn't enough time in a day to finish it all.

"Look, you know I'd drop anything and be with you if I could but this time I really can't, baby. I'm sorry."

"It's okay," Taylor answered, not sounding okay at all.

def ineedtotellyou():
   print("Taylor, baby, I know I haven't been able to spend time with you but I want you to know I'm always thinking about you —every second of every day. I've been distant and I feel terrible about it, especially since I pushed you away when you were trying your hardest to keep things sane and holding things up between us. You didn't deserve that; You don't ever deserve that. I know this doesn't really fix much but hopefully this can make up for it even just a bit."+" ")

It was nearing 2 in the morning and Karlie still sat smack dab in her living room, in the middle of piles of readings and her laptop with her. She was getting frustrated at her lack of progress, how it seemed like the work multiplied on itself and never lessened.

I'm so numb. I can't even feel the buzz hit me anymore, I'm just awake.

Karlie stood to pour herself another cup of coffee when she heard her apartment's door creak open, it's handle turning slightly, What the hell?! Somebody's trying to get into my house! I need to call 911!!
