The next day I woke up to someone shaking me. I opened my eyes to see Marcus shaking me and calling my name.

"Alex, wake up. We are going into town today," he said.

When he said town, I shoved the covers off of me and stood up. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's get ready and go."

We didn't go into town much. Marcus feared that something bad would happen to me but whenever we did nothing happened. We only go into town for the fair or to go to the market. Hopefully we were going to do something other than that today. Today I wanted to look around and fully explore the town. Right now I only know about the market and some of the other shops. Marcus never let me stay longer than we needed to.

I got dressed in a blue sweater, jeans, and white Converse before running downstairs. I sat on the table to see that Marcus had made eggs and was already eating his share. He was wearing a red shirt and jeans. I sat down in my seat and started eating the food on my plate.

After we ate, Marcus put in his black boots and we went outside. I got on the back of his motorcycle and wrapped my arms around Marcus's waist as he got on. The bike started and we drove off towards town. We drove across dirt roads through the forest until the trees thinned out and we drive across a stone bridge over a river. From there, we drove across a smooth, stone road until the line of the town buildings came into view.

The town was made of different sized stone buildings. Some were one story while others were multiple. There were stands in the biggest gaps between the buildings that were shops. Other shops wee in the buildings. But the biggest buildings were the ones that housed the shifters. I knew this because Marcus told me that one day.

We drove to a place where the buildings stopped and surrounded a huge space. Marcus parked his bike where other motorcycles and cars were parked and turned the bike off. Pocketing the keys, he turned and I followed him into the clearing which was were multiple stands were. This was the marketplace.

I followed closely behind Marcus as we walked through the swarm of people that were also in the market. These weren't humans though, they were all Shifters. There was no humans on the island, everyone here was Shifters. Humans come here though. But that's once per year, not every day. Well, there are a few traders that come here every once-in-a-while but it's highly unlikely that they are here now.

We walked to the market stand that sold fruits and vegetables and bought a couple items before walking to another stand. This one sold arrows. Sense I was a good archer, we went here to get new arrows when we were running low. I tend to show off every once and awhile and split an arrow in half. So we got enough to fill my quiver before moving on to a new stand.

We went shopping for awhile before going into the streets between the buildings to find a place to eat. We chose a place called Subway to eat and ordered our sandwiches. After eating, we went back to the bike and got on. Marcus started the bike and we started our long drive home.

On our way home, we stopped and pulled over when we saw a car with its hood up. Marcus was a good mechanic so he decided to help. He also taught me some simple stuff so I put the bags of stuff down and followed him to the front of the car to see a man with brown eyes and gelled back black hair looking inside the hood. He was wearing a suit and had a worried expression on his face. When we walked up to him, he seemed relived.

"Can you help me, sir?" He asked. "My car broke down and I don't know how to fix it."

"Sure thing," Marcus agreed, "Let me have a look at it."
