Chapter 2: "You can call me anything, except silly names."
The first thing that catches my eye is ginger hair. The hair is long and probably silky. What shampoo does she use?
My mum clears her throat to acknowledge our presence in the room while I am inspecting her hair. She probably uses oil I think.
As she turns around, I take in her features. Her eyes are big and glossy, perfect combination with hazel. Her face is like a porcelain doll- not even a single mark. What cream does she use? Ugh stop it you stupid mind!
"Hi I am Ally Jackson but you can call me Ally." She extends out her hand. Her voice is thin and sounds happy and very exciting. She is radiating a happy and positive aura from herself.
"Hey. I am Susan Johnson. You can call me anything, except silly names." I add and shake her hand with the biggest smile on my face. My cheeks hurt but I've got to have a good first expression.
She shakes my hand a little bit too happily but I let it go. She seems nice to me and she'll be a good roommate and a friend too.
A throat clearing voice comes from behind me which reminds me that mum is still standing in the room. "This is my mum, Ruby Johnson." I introduce mum to her.
Her smile doesn't falter a tad bit and she hugs my mom tightly. My eyebrows furrow in confusion and so does mums' but reluctantly she hugs her back. After some good thirty seconds she let her go.
"I-I am sorry. It's just that-" Her voice is trembling but she is cut off by mum. "No problem dear. Handshakes aren't my type so..." She winks at her.
Ally's expression made me giggle. Her eyes were wide and her mind was processing that what just happened. After some time, the shock is replaced by a big smile. Well my mum makes a good impression.
I take my time to look around the room. It's big with two beds on both sides. The beds are not king or queens sized but they look very comfortable so that'll do. Not that I am living in a 5 star hotel.
On the left side there is a big mirror with a chair nearby and a table made of wood and ivory. Everything in the room is perfect except one thing. Washroom! Oh My God, if the washroom is very far and co-ed, I am doomed. Those baboons of a man may peek inside to see my private parts.
I suppress a shudder at that thought. Turning towards Ally I ask her. "Where is the washroom?" I try to calm my tone but a little panic can still be sensed.
"It's right in the corner beside you." I turn around to see a door in the corner which is probably washroom. Relief washes over me like a tsunami.
Now you might think that I am over exaggerating this problem. But this has happened before and trust me, it's not a very pleasant memory. I want to lock that memory up in a trunk and post it to the sun.
"Susan, let's set up your things before the sun sets. I've got to go to my hotel early by taking a cab. And you know that the hotel is very far." My mum says.
I nod at her and turn towards Ally. "Which side do you want?" I ask her. Well I am a good person when I want to be.
"Umm... The left side, close to the mirror. You know, I do make up a lot. And by a lot I mean big Godzilla like a lot." She widens her eyes to prove her point.
I laugh at her sense of humor. She's funny and she definitely knows how to make the mood light. I turn around to look at my side of the bedroom. The bed is located just beside the window. Oh yes. I do an inner tribal dance around fire in happiness.
