Chapter 8

Adrianna’s Point Of View:

After Channing put his hands up in surrender, I could see the girls trying to stifle a laugh. He just didn’t notice.

“It’s not what it looks like.”

That just about did it. They all busted out laughing. Mackenzie, Hannah, and Athena fell on the floor holding their guts. Even Ellie (new girl that I’m friends with) started laughing as well. Channing looked so confused that I even laughed a little.

“Channing, you can put your hands down now.”

He put them down embarrassed. I gave him an encouraging smile and then turned to the girls.

“What are you guys doing here?”

Mackenzie rolled over to me and put a hand on my shoulder. She could barely get through her sentence because she was laughing so hard.

“We’re he-here for girl’s nig-night!”

I grimaced. Girl’s night… There was a possibility that I might die from this experience. The thing is that I am somewhat of a tomboy and most of my friends are girly girls, with the exception of Mackenzie. We would be completely outnumbered when the girls suggest doing each other’s nails and telling secrets. It was something that I wasn’t looking forward to. They were all still laughing which wasn’t making it any better.

“Um, guys, it can’t really be girl’s night because Channing has to stay at my house and he has nowhere to go.”

Mackenzie, who had stopped laughing, looked between me and Channing. Oh geez, how am I gonna make this lie convincing? I don’t even know why he was still staying in my house. What was I supposed to say? That I got lonely and he decided to stay without my mother knowing because she wasn’t hear?

“What about your mom? She doesn’t care that you have a hot boy, your age staying in your house?”

I saw Channing smirk at the fact that Mackenzie called him hot. Idiot needs to focus! I looked toward him for help. He raised his eyebrows and then sighed.

“Her mom is friends with my parents and they all went out of town. I lost my house key so Ms. Gonzalez said that I could stay here.”

I sighed in relief. He was a convincing liar. Jessi’s eyebrows rose up. You could literally see a light bulb go off.

“It’ll be girl’s night plus one!”

Channing looked horrified. Guess he didn’t want to spend his Saturday night hanging around with a bunch of girls. Ellie, being the nice one, noticed his expression and sighed.

“Why don’t we invite some guys over so Channing won’t be alone?”

“Thank you! I didn’t quite catch your name.”

Ellie came forward and put her hand out for him to shake. I swear if he starts flirting with her, I am going to skin him alive. I want to seriously wipe that cocky smirk off of his face.

“I’m Ellie Stewart. I’m the new girl in your Spanish class.”

I heard snickers from the other girls as Channing started blushing for not noticing her. It serves you right for being an idiot, Channing.

“Well maybe we can get to know each other as time goes on.”

“Yeah, maybe we can.”

By this point, I was boiling. He thinks that he can make out with me and then go flirt with some other girl! Ugh, I am gonna dump his… Wait why am I so mad? It’s not like he’s my boyfriend. He can flirt with who he likes and so can I. Also I can tell that Ellie’s not interested by the forced smile that she gave him.
