"C'mon you two." Nick continues to walk down the road.
I turn back and run to Nick and give him a small smile.
"A little help here?" Luke says as he limps toward us.
"Sorry man," Nick goes to Luke and puts his arm around his back giving his leg support.
"This place should be right up here." Luke says.
We walk a little further down the road and see a small crowd of walkers at the bottom of the hill.
Luke sighs, "I guess we can't stay there."
"Damn." Nick says with disappointment.
"I guess we can stay the night in that field, that way we'll be able to see if any walkers come up on us." Luke points to the large empty field in the distance.
"Yeah, I guess that'll work. What do you think Clem?" Nick asks.
"Yeah." I nod.
We walk to the field and sit on ground in a small circle.
Nick pokes around for a few sticks to light for a fire.
"Clem, you got a light?" He asks me.
I dig through the bag and find a lighter.
"Yeah," I toss it to him.
Soon enough we have a fire going.
Nick sits down next to me around the fire.
No one said a word. It was so quiet, all I could hear was the crackling of the fire and crickets buzzing in the distance.
"So, instead of sitting here saying nothing. I've got an idea." Luke says.
"Here we go." Nick rolls his eyes.
"Hey, shut up." Luke laughs.
"Little girl little girl dont lie to me..." He begins to sing.
"Tell me where did you sleep last night
in the pines in the pines where the sun never shines
we'll shiver the whole night throughMy daddy was a railroad man
killed a mile and a half from here
his head was found in the driver's wheel
his body was never foundIn the pines in the pines where the sun never shines
we'll shiver the whole night throughYou've caused me to weep
you've caused me to mourn
caused me to lose my homeLittle girl little girl
where'd you sleep last night
not even your mother knows
in the pines in the pines where the sun never shines
we'll shiver when the cold winds blow.""You're so lame Luke. How do you think it was Clem?" Nick teases.
"That was pretty cheesy." I laugh.
"Y'all don't know what true talent is." Luke defends himself.
"Yes we do, and it's not that!" Nick laughs.
I join in on his laughing too.
"What ever, you guys." Luke pouts.
"Stop being a baby Luke." I chuckle.
"Yeah, stop being a baby Luke." Nick copies me.
Nick was really cool and funny. I can see why Luke was his best friend.
I heard foot steps approach behind me.
"Walkers!" Luke shouts.
Before I can grab a weapon there's already a walker on top of me snapping its teeth.
"Nughhh! H-Help!" I grunt.
"Oh shit!" Luke and Nick scramble through the bag for a weapon.
"I got a knife!" Luke shouts.
"Give it here!" Nick says.
"I've got it Nick." Luke says stopping him from taking the knife.
"Your leg is fucked! Just give me fucking the knife!" Nick demands.
Luke tosses Nick the knife.
"Get off of her you son of a bitch!" Nick yanks the Walker off of me and jams the knife through its eye, into its brain.
"Thanks Nick." I say getting up.
"No problem kid." he says.
"Shit! There's more comin'!" Luke says.
"Do we have any guns in the bag?!" I worry.
"Yeah! We have one!" Luke takes the gun and tries to shoot it.
"C'mon Luke stop fucking around! Shoot em' already!" Nick shouts.
"It's outta bullets!"
"There's no more in the bag?!" Nick panics as the walkers get closer and closer.
"No!" Luke answers.
"We gotta get out of here!" Nick says.
"Hurry get Luke!" I order.
There was to many for the three of us to fight off... we'll make that two, considering Luke can't really walk and run around just yet.
"Clem, you think you can hold off any of the ones that get too close?" Nick asks me.
"Yeah! I got it!"
"Take my knife, it's in my back pocket!" He says.
Well, this was going to be the most awkward second of my life.
I reach my hand into his pocket and grab the knife as quickly as I possibly could.
"Clem! In front of us!" Nick shouts.
I run up to the Walker that approaches and quickly take it down.
"Luke can you run faster?" I ask.
"I- I don't know." he says.
"There's too many walkers for me to take on alone and they're getting closer! Just run!" I demand.
"Clem, I-I can't just run!" He says.
"It's only going to hurt you until we stop running then you can rest your leg again." I start to panic.
"You gotta try man." Nick adds.
"Fuck, fine." he starts to run and we follow sprinting through the field.
"Nughhh!" Luke moans in pain as he runs.
"We're almost there!" I say.
"Where are we going?" Nick asks me.
"Some where safe." I say.
I see Luke starting to slow down.
"Come on Luke!" I scream.
"Agh! My leg!" He cries.
"Try not to think about it." I say.
"I'm tryin' Clem!" He pants.
"Ugh!" He falls onto the ground.
"Luke!" I worry.
"Clem! Come on!" Nick shouts.
"Are you seriously telling me to just leave your best friend to die!?" I bark.
"Clem, you can't save everyone! Remember that." He says.
"I'm NOT just leaving him!" I say as I help him to his feet.
I see a car in the distance.
"Nick get the car!!" I shout to him.
Let's hope it still works.
I see him make it to the car and start it. I sigh in relief.
"We're almost there Luke." I say as we keep running.
"Good." he sighs.
We climb into the back seat and drive away.
