"Maggie, she passed out!" I say.
"Okay, we need to stop the bleeding fast!" Maggie says pulling off her shirt revealing a dark green tank top underneath.
"Clem, check her heart rate." She orders as she wraps Loris arm with her shirt to stop the bleeding.
"It's kinda slow." I say.
"Shit!"
"What do we do?" I ask.
"We gotta get her somewhere safe where walkers can't get her." she says standing up, placing her hands on her hips.
"There's a few other farm houses out here near ours but we'll have to walk pretty far to get there." she adds.
"As long as we can keep her alive, I'll be fine." I say.
"Alright, Clem grab her legs and keep her steady." she says.
"I'm on it."
"Hey Maggie? What time do you think it is?" I say looking up into the dark sky.
"I don't know, maybe one in the morning." she answers.
"I hope everyone made it out okay." I say.
"So do I." she says.
-
"Holy shit!" I shout.
"What?" Luke asks.
"Up ahead." I drive towards a farm that has a herd walkers, more then I've ever seen before.
"Why are we driving into the farm?!" Luke asks as he starts to panic.
"What if Clem's in here?" I say.
"Nick, you're fucking crazy. She wouldn't be in that mess." Luke shoots daggers at me.
I ignore what he says and get out of the car.
"Nick! Stop she's not going to be in there!" Luke follows me.
Luke pulls out his machete and I get my gun.
"Nick, this is really fucking stupid." Luke scowls at me.
"Shut up." I snap.
"Nugggh!" Luke slashes through a walker, squirting its blood all over our faces and clothes.
The further we went into the herd the more blood we got on us.
"Why aren't they attacking us anymore?" Luke asks.
"How the hell should I know." I answer.
"Maybe, it's all the blood on us." Luke says.
"How does that make any sense?" I snarl.
"We smell like shit now, just like them. Maybe that's why it makes sense dumb ass." Luke snaps.
I don't respond so I decide to just shut up and ignore him.
"Fuck! No!" Luke shouts.
"Did you find her?" I ask.
"No! I didn't, but I found this." he says holding up Clem's hat.
"Fuck." I mumble.
"Do you think she's dead?" I ask.
"No, look. There's a path of dead walkers, it leads to a way out. She made it." He smiles and let's out a sigh.
"C'mon let's follow it." Luke says.
-
"She's getting really heavy." I complain.
"Come on Clem, you can make it." Maggie says.
"How much further?" I wine.
"It's right up ahead, about a half a mile left."she says.
I moan and continue to walk.
There's suddenly a loud boom of thunder in the sky.
"Alright let's hurry up." Maggie says.
I felt a drop of water hit the tip of my nose.
The rain started pouring fast. It turned into heavy rain fast.
"That came out of no where." she says.
"C'mon! We aren't far." she adds.
I feel Loris leg jerk.
"I think Lori's waking up!" I shout so Maggie can hear me over the rain.
"Clem! She's not waking up!" Maggie yells.
Lori breaks from Maggie's grasp and launches on top of her, snarling and snapping her teeth in her face.
"Clem help!" She shouts.
"I can't kill her!" I cry.
"CLEM!" She screams.
"I can't do it!" I sob. I've only know her a few days, but she bonded with me and I loved her, she was like my mom. That sounds weird to say. I couldn't do it.
"J-Just pull her off of me!" She shouts.
Just before I can get to Lori, or what once was Lori, she bites into Maggie's neck spilling blood everywhere.
"NO!" I scream.
Maggie's cries of pain ring in my ears. I grab her knife and kill Lori.
This is all my fault.
"Maggie!" I sit on my knees beside her.
"Cl-e..." She tries to speak while she chokes on her own blood.
"Shhh... shhh. You're going to be okay." Tears form in my eyes.
I try to remember that one song Luke sang to Nick and I.
"Little girl little girl dont lie to me...
Tell me where did you sleep last night
in the pines in the pines where the sun never shines
we'll shiver the whole night through." That's all I could remember. By the time I finished the first verse Maggie was already gone."No..." I whisper and smash my hand on the ground, a few tears had slipped from my eyes.
"Don't leave me. I don't want to be alone again!" I wipe tears from my face.
I knew I needed to go, but I didn't want to have to put her down. I needed to.
I grab her knife and put it to her temple.
"I'm so sorry. It's all my fault." I say before looking away and pressing the knife into her head.
I pull the knife back out and wipe the blood off.
The rain pours harder onto my hatless head. I wipe more tears off of my face and head towards the new farm.
-
"Nick! Look!" Luke calls to me.
I run over to him.
"You think Clem did this?" I ask looking at the severed arm on the road.
"Probably. C'mon let's follow the trail of blood." I say.
"Look man, sorry I was being a dick back there." I apologize.
"It's fine, I get it. You're under a lot of pressure." Luke says.
"Holy shit!" Luke runs up to two dead bodies that are a far distance from us.
"It looks like they've both been put down. It had to of been Clem who did this!" Luke's face lights up.
"Alright, we gotta keep goin'. She's close, this blood is fresh. " He guides the two of us down the road.
"What if this isn't even Clem we're going after?" I ask.
"It is, I know it is. See those small footsteps in the mud and tell me those aren't Clem's." He says.
The rain hits the top of my head and drips off the rim of my hat.
"Alright, let's go get that girl."
