Misty was almost in Pallet Town. By now, it was almost pitch black, the forest only to be illuminated by the light on her bike. This bike, the one she got back after Ash destroyed it... It actually meant a lot to her. She made so many memories while travelling with Ash, and now if she didn't do the unthinkable and impossible, he would be gone forever. Tears now flowed down her face steadily.

All of a sudden, three figures hopped out of the foliage. A man, a woman, and a Pokemon. The humans wore white uniforms with a red letter that Misty could just barely make out in the darkness. Of course, it was them...

"Give us dat Pikachu!" Meowth sneered, net in hand.

"Prepare for trou-" Jessie began, but she stopped at the sight of Misty looking at her with a painful face and simply riding away, "James, what's her problem?"

James gulped and looked at his teammates. "I-I don't know Jess." He wasn't fearing the worse, having had their most recent attempt to capture Pikachu on Monday night. They've been hidden from the news and word of mouth due to their forest camping and sneaking.

Misty, having heard their dialogue, turned around and gave all of them a cold stare. Pikachu and Azurill, perched on her shoulders, frowned at them as well. "You killed him."

The purple-haired man gasped. "You mean-"

"A-ash," the redhead sputtered. Pikachu and Azurill clung to her neck, watching fat tears roll down her cheeks and onto their paws.

James shot a glare at Jessie. "I told you that machine was out of the question. It was too powerful, Jessie."

The woman growled. "I thought we could manage it, James," she snapped at him, then glanced down at Meowth. "But who was manning it?"

"Hey, hey, I thought it would hit da Pikachu, not Ash! And Jessie, you said full voltage!" Meowth pointed out.

Jessie was now crying. "I-I'm sorry, okay!" she snarled, stepping back a bit. "We just needed the money for once!"

James too was teared up. He couldn't believe the extremes that their work had reached. All these years attempting to catch that one, single Pikachu, and it had gotten to the point where someone had died at their hands. That someone being the common Pokemon's owner. Despite all of this, he grabbed his partner's tense, sweaty hand. Meowth stumbled over shakily and wrapped himself around the man's leg. James cleared his throat before speaking to the enraged Misty. "I know we're bad, but... if there's anything we can do..."

Misty, Pikachu, and Azurill both exchanged looks. It was like all of their brains were communicating the same thought back and forth over invisible telephone wires. The girl turned her head to the trio slowly. "There is, in fact. But before I say anything, I want you to know that I am most certainly not crazy in any way. Got it?"

Jessie and James cocked their eyebrows. "O-okay?" the woman mumbled, trembling.

Smirking, Misty continued. "Since you three are criminals, I need you to steal the Tablet of the Sunrise from the Pewter City Museum of Science so I can bring Ash back."

"Are you nuts!? Have you seen how bad we are at stealing things!?" James sputtered, stunned. "And bring Ash back?"

"Look, James, he's some sort of ghost now, and I know he is." Misty rolled her eyes. "And he said that it would work. I don't know how, but all I know is that I want him back!"

Jessie sighed, "Fine, we'll do it."

"But what's in it for us?" Meowth asked, half-agitated half-choked-up. James kicked him. "Oh, duh..."

The woman bit her lip. "But, how do we know that this will work?"

Misty mounted her bike, which pointed into Route 1. "Meet me in Lavender Town tomorrow, 9 o'clock sharp."

"Okay-" James started.

"And I mean it," Misty spat before pedaling away.

Meowth sighed heavily and turned into the woods. "I'mma go set up camp..." he groaned, stumbling away.

Jessie turned to James, a chill running down her arms and coming into contact with his hands. "Did we just get assigned an even greater mission than ever?"

James grabbed her elbows and nodded. "We have to do it though. We killed her boyfriend."

"Hey, I heard that!" Misty growled from somewhere in Route 1.

The woman scoffed and fell into James with a yawn. "Take me back to camp. We have a lot of stuff to do..."

James scooped her up bridal style and strode off into the woods. "Disguise creating, fake personality profiles, heist gear assembly, plan discussing, eating, sleeping, dreaming..." he chuckled as he listed them off.

"And there's a lot more to do than that..." Jessie mumbled sleepily as James carried her away.
