"Almost... there..." Misty huffed, pedaling her bike as fast as she could as Pewter City came into view. Pikachu and Azurill, who each had taken one of her shoulders, looked ahead as their tails bobbed up and down behind them. The redheaded girl pushed on until she reached a stone building with the words "Pewter City Gym" etched into the top left-hand corner. She half-circled around it until she reached Brock's "front" door.

Misty dismounted her bike and began to knock, only to be interrupted by the sparkless Brock himself. He was clad in long black pants, a black long-sleeved shirt, a white apron, and a completely expressionless face. Well, not completely, for he bore a hint of sadness. "Hello Misty," he said blankly.

Looking around Brock, Misty found his countless brothers and sisters eating ramen at the kitchen table, wearing pretty much the same outfits. The only one that wasn't present was Forrest. "Hey Brock, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the Pewter City Museum of Science with me." Misty smiled a bit, trying to make Brock lighten up.

Brock attempted to return her kind gesture, only to bite his lip. "Well, Mom and Dad are on a 'brief hiatus' at the moment, and I have to take care of my siblings. But I guess I could leave for just a bit," the boy explained, looking down at his gray and black plaid loafers. "Hold on." Brock turned and slightly shut the door. He uttered a few words to his siblings, who remained silent, and then ran upstairs. When he returned, he was wearing his traveling outfit from their good-old-days. Croagunk, whose eyes were glazed over with tears, now clung to his side like Pikachu and Azurill. "Ready."

It wasn't a physically long walk to the gym, but it was a silent one for both of them. The Pokemon exchanged frequent looks the whole way there. But, as soon as they entered the doors of the museum, Brock gained an attitude change...

"Wow! Look at those rocks! And the new Tyrunt fossil!" he cheered, eyes bright. "It's in perfect condition... I wonder who found this one." He ran his fingers across the writing on the plaque below. "It says here that 'Tyrunt's jaws are so immensely strong that they can chew boulders into gravel within...'"

Misty began to zone Brock out and looked around for the Tablet. She found a huge fossilized Kabutops, a menacing Aerodactyl skeleton, and a rather large Helix Fossil. Noticing her frantic searching, an employee tapped her on the shoulder. "Are you looking for any specific artifacts, Miss Waterflower?" She asked, beaming out happiness.

The girl turned around, returning the gleeful aura to the museum worker. "Oh, I'm just looking for the Tablet of the Sunrise."

"Everyone wants to see that thing lately. Right this way, Misty!" the worker scurried off.

"'Tyrunt later evolves into the bigger, more quick-tempered Tyra-'" Brock was cut off by Misty, pulling his earlobe and dragging him in the direction of the lady. "Hey, I was reading that!"

"You live almost right next door. Plus, I wanted to see this!" Mist grinned, her eyes locking on the Tablet. Lights shone upon it from every possible angle. Countless security cameras were placed in multiple spots around the room. Many tourists stood around, taking many different shots of the sandstone object. The stone plate itself was locked into place by wires on its stand. Great, that'll  be easy... she mentally sighed. In addition to the Scyther, Raichu, Charmeleon, Servine, Snover, Gengar, and Meowth, there was a Magnezone, patrolling the road to a safe Ash.

Brock's eyes lit up even more than before. "The Tablet of the Sunrise! Legend has it that it can resurrect a soul that had died in an abrupt, unruly, way..." the older boy began to lose his spark again. He coughed and smiled again. "The seven tasks on the tablet are to be performed before they are permanently laid to rest in order to save the life." He circled around the Tablet, blocking the shot of a photographer, who simply worked around him. "But of course, that is only the word of legend."

"That's right Brock! Now, come back to me if you need anything else!" The curator that helped the two chimed, running back to the front desk.

Misty turned to see a plaque on the wall titled "Tablet of the Sunrise". She was drawn to it and began reading immediately.

"Many years ago, this sandstone tablet was found one mysterious morning in the Lavender Town Cemetery. According to legend, this artifact can bring life back to those who have been killed in an unfair or devious way. But, you have to complete the seven tasks written on its surface before the person of interest's funeral takes place. If they are officially laid to rest before this, hopeless grieving awaits you in your future."

The teenage boy turned to Misty, bearing a depressed face. "Misty, this has nothing to do with Ash, does it?" he sighed, tears in his... well... eyes.

"N-no! Of course not! I-I'm just... curious about it." Misty stuttered, her head aching.

Brock's new bipolar attitude changed back. "Y'know, I should tell you for him." he sneered, being as cocky as Gary.

Thump, thump. "What?" She breathed in, trying to prevent what was coming.

"He would probably want me too, so yeah." Brock sighed, leaning against the fossil-clad wall.

Thump thump thump. "What Brock?" Misty said sternly, although she probably had already heard it from everyone else.

"Oh, you want me to tell you?" he smirked, watching her lips curl back.

Thump-thump-thump-thump. "Yes, just tell me!" she growled, forgetting the feelings inside of her.

"Ash loved you. He really did. Even that kid had a love interest-" his eyes bulged as Croagunk jabbed him in the leg. "He told me a couple of times. But he never wanted to tell you because he said that you'd probably get mad and leave us."

Thumpthumpthumpthumpthump. Misty felt her somewhat broken heart rise up inside of her chest. Her face began to turn as red as her hair.

"A-are you okay Misty?" Brock asked, worried that he had pulled a trigger.

Misty held up a finger and fled outside, turning heads. As soon as she was outside, she let it out. "EEEEEEEE!"

Brock walked outside and put a hand on her shoulder. "Sorry. Do you need a water?"

"No hard feelings, and no. The sun's getting low, so I should probably get back to the Ketchums' house." Misty waved to Brock and began to run back to his house to get her bike. "Bye, Brock!"

"Oh, well, bye!" Brock waved, heading back into the museum to gaze in awe at the rocks and artifacts.

"Goodbye Pewter City, hello Serena..." Misty sighed, mounting her bike and pedaling towards Pallet Town. Pikachu and Azurill stared ahead as well, fearing what was to be ahead of the trio as they traveled into the night.
