One day. Only one day left before she would marry a man she barely knew. Katherine was beyond terrified at the thought, time seemed to have speed up just to scare her silly. Between getting ready for the big event and being stressed about it Katherine had had barely anytime to herself. The only up happy side in her week of craziness was the arrival of her mother and childhood friend Darcy.

"Oh it's so good to see you!" Katherine said embracing Darcy.

"Oh Kat! Look at you, your all grown up!" Darcy said pulling away from her.

"I'll say, look at you and that four o'clock shadow." Katherine said beaming at his scruffy jaw. Darcy rubbed his neck sheepishly.

"Yea sorry about that, we've been in a carriage for a solid day." He said.

Then Katherine spotted her mother and rushed up to her, she was dressed in a dark blue dress and looked joyous as she saw Katherine.

"Oh my dear! So good to see you!" Elizabeth said embracing her only daughter. She smelt like the mansion back home and it made Katherine homesick. "How do you feel? Are you excited?" Elizabeth asked grabbing Katherine hands.

Katherine's eyes dropped to the floor her sudden good mood diminishing at her words, Katherine knew she wasn't allowed to speak her mind. She was raised to obey in such a precise way, so despite wanting to tell her mother of her fears she forced a smile.

"Completely over joyed." Katherine said forcefully.

Elizabeth's beaming expression almost made Katherine feel guilty for lying to her. Immediately her mother launched into questions about Jack and the wedding, Katherine answered as best she could with out sounding bias. Elizabeth hooked arms with Darcy and they took a walk around the castle as they talked. Katherine knew Darcy felt bad for her because he kept giving her apologetic glances as Elizabeth continued.

"What's he like?" She asked as they passed the gardens.

"He's nice." Katherine answered. It was truthful, he wasn't a bad guy from what she'd seen of him.

"I'm so excited for the wedding! I just can't believe it, my baby's all grown up and getting married. And soon your gonna have children of your own! Oh... and I'm gonna be a grandparent." Elizabeth said clutching her chest. "I'm only 36 years old and I'm gonna be a grandma!"

Katherine was surprised by how happy she looked, normally Elizabeth was always one to complain about how old
she was. Katherine's stomach turned nervously at the thought of having a baby, everyone was expecting her to have one ASAP. Katherine didn't want that... it scared her so bad she found her hands beginning to shake as they entered back through the castle.

"Well my dear, it's getting late." Elizabeth said. "I must go find my husband and tell him of our safe return. Darcy come with me, Katherine is going to need her rest for the big day tomorrow." She said offering her arm to Darcy.

Darcy smiled sadly at Katherine and left with her mother, she felt abandoned and ready to throw up. Still, she couldn't afford to loose it now. Everyone was counting on her, she had to put on a good show. She had to pretend she was in love with the prince, she had to marry him tomorrow and... she had to face what was to come tomorrow night.

Katherine took a deep breath swearing to herself that she would never loose this facade she'd tried so hard to keep.
