Day One: Cyber Monday
This was the first time that I had ever ordered anything from online since I first arrived at Keene State College for my freshman year. Yesterday was cyber Monday, and I decided to order a few outfits from stores that were having good sales. It was a successful night shopping if I do say so myself.
I walked into my dorm after classes and noticed that my name was on the white board. This meant that I had packages waiting in the mail room. Excited to try on my new clothes, I walked towards the room with a skip in my step. Usually there was a line to get packages, but luckily there was nobody else there.
Inside the tiny room was various packages scattered everywhere, a single computer to track who got their packages, and a person to manage everything that happened in the room. The mail lady's name was Lauren, and she was a Residence Assistant or RA for short. She was one of the RAs on the fifth floor, while I resided on the second. The only times that I've ever seen her was when I passed by on the way to my best friends Ally and Dinah's room on the sixth floor. Lauren was pretty, but I didn't know anything about her.
"Hi, my name is Camila Cabello. The white board says that I have a package." I told Lauren.
She smiled at me with a smile that warmed my heart and said, "Of course."
Lauren checked the list of packages on the computer, and a look of surprise was drawn onto her face. This caused me to giggle, but I tried not to make it noticeable. She scrounged through all of the packages in the room until she gathered together eight total packages. This was good because that was all I ordered. However, I didn't know how I was going to get these all up to my room in one trip. Maybe two trips would do it.
"I'm going to have to make two trips." I laughed, causing Lauren to look at me with a smile. "I'll be back for the others."
I grabbed four of the eight packages, then Lauren grabbed the other four. What was she doing? She couldn't leave her post, could she?
"What are you doing?" I asked her with a ridiculous smile plastered on my face.
"I'm going to help bring these up to your room, but don't tell the Residence Director that I left the mail room." she told me, bringing her pointer finger over her lips as if to hush me.
I nodded, then walked with her to the elevator and waited for it to get to the ground floor. When it did so, we both entered it and I hit the second floor button. Usually I would just take the stairs, but I had a load to carry up. It took seconds to get to the second floor, where we got out and made our way to my room. Soon enough, we arrived and I had to get my door open. It was probably locked because my roommate Normani had class around this time.
As I reached for the key in my back pocket, I dropped all four of my packages on Lauren, causing her to drop the other four that were in her hands.
"I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, bringing both of my hands to my face in embarrassment.
"Don't be sorry, it's fine! I just hope that none of your stuff is broken." she told me.
All I could do was smile and say, "Don't worry, it's all just clothes that I bought in a cyber Monday sale."
Lauren belted out a laugh, which made the most beautiful sound that I've ever heard. Honestly, this was love at first laugh. She looked and sounded so flawless when she was laughing. When she stopped laughing, it was hard for me to recover from getting my heart strings tugged.
"Let's get this door open. I've really got to get back to my job if I'm going to keep it." she smiled.
Quickly, I unlocked the door and she helped me gather up all of my packages. When we entered my room, we just dropped all of the packages messily all over my bed. I didn't care if they were neat or not, since they were going to get ripped open seconds later anyways.
