A/N: Here's a one shot in honor of Camila's birthday. Happy 18th, Camz!
Camila was finally eighteen years old, and her biggest wish was to receive a kiss from her one true love—Lauren. Even if she hadn't gotten this wish, she would have been satisfied with a simple "happy birthday" tweet.
She had spent the entire day with her mother, father, and little sister Sofia, not bothering to check her phone all day. Her family decided to take her out for some pizza, according to her wishes, then they went out to the movies to see something family-oriented that made them all laugh harder than they should have. In fact, they went to go see the new SpongeBob Squarepants movie that was put out recently, and they found that it was quite good. Watching a movie that had much to do with her childhood really made her feel like a little kid again. Even though she was eighteen now, she was never going to stop making things more fun.
When she arrived home that evening, she knew that she had to get back on the Reflection Tour with the girls the following day. Camila loved touring around everywhere, but she did enjoy her days off that she could spend with the family that she misses so much. She stayed in a hotel room with her family that night, which was honestly much better to finally be in a bed that wasn't on a moving tour bus.
A loud buzzing sound came from Camila's phone suddenly as she laid in bed, thinking about how Lauren hadn't wished her a "happy birthday" yet. She perked up immediately, hoping that this was a tweet from Lauren, but it wasn't. It was just one of those stupid Twitter notifications that informed you about certain people you follow retweeting the same tweet. She wished she knew how to turn those notifications off, but she was no technological whiz.
Anger and sadness sat like a rock in Camila's heart as she thought about how all of the other girls wished her a happy birthday and Lauren hadn't. Ally was the first to tweet her, then Normani, and finally Dinah. Had Lauren forgot that today was her birthday? How could Camila's best friend and secretive crush have forgotten such an important date? The thought of this pained Camila to the point where she needed to cry.
Since she refused to cry in front of her family, she got up out of bed and tip-toed out of the hotel room. Much to her surprise, she found a folded up piece of paper at her feet. Could this be a note left for her? Who was it from? Camila bent down and picked up the paper, then gently unfolded it. In familiar, neat writing was the word 'Lobby'. She checked all around the piece of paper to check if there was anything else written, but there wasn't. It was probably telling her to go to the hotel lobby, which is what Camila decided to do. After all, she was upset, and she needed to go for a walk anyways.
When she arrived in the hotel lobby, she looked around in search of a person, a clue, or anything that may have seemed out of place. After looking for about five minutes, she decided to turn around and head back to the room. Before she could walk two steps, she heard the sound of paper crunching beneath her feet. She glanced down to see yet another piece of paper like the one she had found earlier. Camila picked this note up again and read it, like she had with the other. On it was another word in the same handwriting, 'Pool'. From her previous experience, Camila knew that she was supposed to go to the pool area. This was a bit out of the ordinary, since the pool room was supposed to be closed.
It took her about a minute to finally get to the pool area, since she ended up finding a one dollar bill on the way, and got a little excited. When she actually got to where she was supposed to go, she found that the pool was closed off as expected. Where was she to go now that the next area was closed? She looked around the outside of the closed off area, and found nothing except for a lone vending machine full of various bags of chips and candies. Camila looked closer at the vending machine to see a piece of paper in one of the empty slots where chips should have been. She squinted her eyes to see the words on the paper that said, 'Using the dollar bill I left for you, put it in this machine and punch in D12'.
Camila did as the note had said, and a pack of Orbit gum dropped in the area in which you are meant to grab whatever it was that you selected. Baffled, she took out the pack of gum only to see that it had a smaller note that was folded up inside rather than actual pieces of gum. The note was removed and unfolded, then she read the words 'Okay, I'll stop messing around. Get to the top floor.' Was this person pulling a prank on her?
She walked to the nearest elevator, then waited for it to come to her floor. A loud dinging noise rang through the hotel as the doors opened, allowing her entrance. The doors closed behind her and she pressed the button for the top floor. Instantly, the elevator made its incline to the highest point that it could go. After finally exiting the elevator, Camila noticed a piece of paper taped to the wall that had an arrow directing her to turn right. She did as the paper instructed, and she kept walking until she hit a dead end—the entrance to the roof—which had a piece of paper that read 'Camila. Come on up!'
Without thinking, she did as she was told, then opened the door. Camila walked up the steps, and felt the warm, LA breeze on the exposed skin on her face and arms. After getting to the top, she hadn't bothered to look for the person who left the notes, because the view of Los Angeles below was just so captivating. Suddenly, Camila felt a tap on her left shoulder, which caused her to jump with a shriek. She turned around to see Lauren smiling and giggling at her.
"Camz, did you really think that I would honestly forget my best friend's eighteenth birthday? I could never." she explained.
"I was worried that you had forgotten. The others remembered, and it made me sad to think that the one I was closest to forgot about me."
"I'd never forget. Ever." Lauren paused. "Now wouldn't you like to know why I called you all the way up here?"
"Yeah, what was with the whole game?"
"That was for fun. What is a party without the party games? I want you to guess what I brought you up here for."
"Okay. Is it to show your best friend in the world the lovely view of LA at night?" Camila guessed.
"Nope. Try again."
"You have a birthday surprise for me?"
"You've got that right. Now what is the one thing that you want more than anything that you've been wanting forever, that you couldn't have because you weren't old enough?" Lauren asked, smirking.
"Um. Scratch tickets?"
"Camz, I know what you've been wanting, and it's not scratch tickets. I've approached your little sister to tell me what you wanted the most for your eighteenth birthday, and I had to give a call to Sandra and Marielle just to confirm. You know as well as I do, that what you want from me is much more intricate than betting on a card for money that you may lose on. I want you to tell me what you want, and tell me what you are thinking right now. I'll make your birthday wish come true."
"I... I want you to kiss me, I'm legal." Camila replied nervously, not expecting what was coming next.
Lauren leaned in and started to kiss her lightly, with Camila moving into the kiss to make it settle in comfortably. As they kissed, Lauren managed to get Camila's bottom lip in between her teeth, causing her to moan with pleasure. For the next two minutes, their lips danced together as they held each other tightly under the full moonlight about them that overlooked the beautiful scene beneath them. When they finally pulled apart, Camila couldn't help but smile at the girl that had just given her the best gift of them all.
"How was that for a first kiss?" Lauren asked her.
"I couldn't have imagined sharing it with anyone better. Too bad it had to end." Camila frowned.
"You thought that was it? You've got more coming your way." she smiled.
Camila returned the smile and asked, "Tonight?"
"Not just tonight, Camila. I'm beginning to think that every night should be like this. Do you get what I'm saying?"
"Girlfriends?" Camila asked.
"Girlfriends." Lauren stated, making this the best birthday that Camila had ever imagined.
