Never Leave Me

I awake to a sight I wish I could wake up to everyday, I wish I could lay like this everyday. All day everyday, but I know that's too much to wish for. We have business to attend to down at the station. I look up to the clock hanging on the wall, 11:07. Alright, just thirty more minutes. I want to hold Ambi just a little longer. That's all.

I start playing with her hair, she always says she hates it when I play with her hair but I think she secretly enjoys it. I just can't help it though, it's so beautiful.

I know she isn't sleep, I don't want to get up either.

So we lay like this for a while.

"Ambi," I say once it's 11:30.

"Yea?"

"I don't want to, but we have to go. I'm sure an officer is probably being sent to get us as we speak." She gets up into a sitting position, so I roll over onto my back slightly wincing at the now swollen bruises. I know they're swollen, an injury always hurts more the second day.

"I'll have to go home for a change of clothes. You should probably get washed up to." She looks over at me with a small smile.

I look down at myself, "yea I probably should." I say returning the smile. "I'll walk you to your room."

"Dai-chan, you don't have to."

"There's nothing to it, let's go," I grab her hand intertwining it with mine, "the quicker the better, and you protesting isn't buying us any time."

"Maybe I could just fly again," I hear her mumble. Fly? Is that what she did yesterday? I swear she came out of nowhere and now that I think about it I felt like I was flying too. A whole out of body experience. Must have been the adrenaline.

"Flying?" I asked once we left my house.

"Don't mind me, I'm probably all out of pixie dust anyway." She joked.

"What are you going on about Ambi?"

"Don't call me crazy but I'm positive I was flying yesterday, that or I was just moving extremely fast. Insanely fast. I was all 'omg gunshot, Daiki's in trouble, gotta save Daiki' then boom I'm safely landing out of a 2 story high bedroom window and running over to you all in less then 5 seconds. I had to have been flying."

"Well while I'm flattered I could help you tap into the mysterious talents of Ambi Yuki, I'm sure you weren't flying. Maybe you were moving really fast but I think flying is a big jump." By now we were on her porch, I could see the dried up blood on the wood below us from yesterday.

"Maybe," she said as I led her to her room, "I mean, you're probably right. If I could fly I would have left here a long time ago."

"If you could fly, would you still leave now?"

"I don't know..."

"If you do decide to fly away from home Ambrosia, take me with you. We can start over together."

"Of course Dai-chan. You'll be the first to know."

"Promise. Promise you'll never leave without me."

Promise me you'll never leave me alone.

"I promise."
