Beyond the river .

Cleo

I promised myself I would never return to that part of the forest where my deepest , darkest secrets hid.

But , why was I here now?

I woke up with the bed sheets everywhere , breathing heavily and my eyes not in focus. I shock my head to star at my dark room. I bent down next to the bed with my eyes closed and placed my hands down searching for my trousers.

Found them !

I placed my hand into the first back pocket with my eyes still closed , searched around - nothing , next pocket

Found it !

I pulled my iPhone out of the pocket and turned it on , the bright light burned me making me quickly turn it back off , adjust my eyes and get ready to turn it back on then turn it back on .

This continued for about 5 minutes.

I finally got use to the bright light and cheeked the time .

2:27

Nah. I ain't getting up now .

I rolled back over and fell back asleep .

" Mari, Mari~ come on" a voice in the distance of dream land kind of woke me up , it was broken down by the walls so I didn't fully hear it ,but I just ignored it . " Mari! Your going to be late!" This sounded like it was in my bedroom . " Mari" I felt cool water collapse over my face causing me to jump up and scream , my top was now soaking and stared at Cleo with the evilest look I could but she just smiled and put on her 'whoops ' face with an empty cup in her hand.

Cleo had straight long dirty blonde hair that went just above her hip , the two side bits of her hair were curled up - I could tell she had done this earlier, she was wearing her light blue t shirt that said 'Kelly's cupcakes' in the top left corner , it was written in red and had a picture of a small pink cupcake next to it . She had black skinny jeans on and a pair of boots on .

" Cleo! Now I'll have to change the sheet !"

" aw, well , who cares ! Your going to be late for work, you should be happy that a friend like me is always there for you!"

" I would, if they didn't wake me up every morning use ing water!"

" hey, don't blame me "

" your the one who did it !"

She laughed then walked out of the room as I stood up and walked into our bathroom , I got washed and dressed then checked the mirror to make sure nothing was out of place.

I was wearing a black jacket that was zipped up , it's zip was on the left side and it did have any hood ,Cleo had. said it was an 'emo jacket' when I brought it . I was wearing blue jeans with only back pockets and some 'DC comics' batman shoes .

I brushed my hair that was now grown , my dark brown hair that was once short ,now went to just under my hip , it was wavy and smooth like silk however very thick. I tried it up in pony tail using the black hair band that was always on my wrist. I tapped myself down like I usual do , making sure everything was fine and nothing was out of place . I pulled my keys and phone of my bed-side cabinet and checked the time .

9:00

I had 1hour to get to work. I shoved my phone in my back pocket of my jeans and placed my keys in my jacket pocket . I turned off the light to my room , closed the door then walked down the small hallway to the door and got a text . I pulled out my phone and checked it .

' heyyy, haven friend over , be good'

It was then followed by some emojis .

' me be gold?? Who's coming'

I replied

' Olivia '

' who's she'

' a friend at worm'

' worm?'

' yup'

I laughed then put my phone back in my pocket and walked to the bus stop. Cleo , who had left when I had woke up, was my room mate - she's 19 years old - she works in a small cake shop in town - really far away. I'm 18 but I'm going to be 19 in 2 months, I've been living with my room mate ,Cleo , for about a year . After the ... Incident, a about a year later me and my dad moved away from the small town , I no longer wanted to be in the town knowing I was the cause of Millys- umm- my dad thought it would be good to get a change of scenery because of the incident and I quickly agreed with him . I wanted to get away from that place , most of my friends wouldn't even look at me . But they had no idea what happened that day. Anyway, my mum disagreed . She thought that moving would have been running away , she also thought that we had to stay there in respect for Milly. This caused a big argument and my mum and dad getting a divorce. My brother - who's now 28- stayed with my mum while I left with my dad . I heard nothing else from him but I do know that he has a wife and kid now , so I think he's not living with my mum anymore.

A few years later , when I was 15 , my dad had to go on a business trip - a cause of this was me living by my self , but I didn't mind much because he was never really at home much so living by myself just felt the same .  When I was 17 I moved house and got an apartment with Cleo , my dad gives me money to pay for bills and stuff but it's never enough so I have to make my own money too - I found a nice job as a babysitter that payed a good amount of money so that's what I'm doing-, most of the money my dad gives me goes towards my school tuitions. I get mail from my dad every month around the 13th , the day today was the 20 and I had already for his nice letter, I sent one back too.

I got in the bus , payed for my ticket and  sat down .

After I moved in with Cleo we started to become friends instead of strangers , now we tell each other everything- but, not me . Sometimes I just can't bring myself to tell her things , like the past.
