perfect tree

"How bout this one?" Shawn asked tugging at the branch of the pine.

"No too tall" I sighed.

He huffed releasing it as we made our way down the path. I gazed up at every tree trying to find the one that was just right for our new home.

"How bout this one?" He asked again.

I scrunched my face and shook my head.

"Too ugly!"

"How is a tree ugly y/n?!" He chuckled.

"You can just tell Shawn!" I chuckled back grabbing his hand guiding him away from it.

"Maybe that tree had feelings" he pouted.

I laughed and wrapped my arm with his continuing to look at the rows of trees. The smell of pine filling my nose.

"Ooo what about this one!" He shouted running over to a really small one and pointing excitedly at it.

"Shawn..."

"Fine" he whined walking away from it.

He pulled out his phone and the tree next to him caught my eye. It was perfect. It was big and fluffy and was just a little taller than Shawn. I could just see it now. Our daughter hanging on Shawns shoulders as she puts the angel on top of the tree laughing as our son plays around with the train Shawn and him put together. I stared at Shawn and smiled kindly. He caught my eye and put his phone back in his pocket.

"what?" He chuckled looking up at me.

"This tree is the one" I said standing next to it.

"Y/n, this tree won't fit" he chuckled grabbing my side.

"In the foyer it will" I smirked looking up into his eyes as he pressed his lips on mine lightly.

"If you love it we'll get it" he smiled.

I looked up at the tree again and sighed closing my eyes imaging my kids running around with my handsome husband.

"It's perfect just like you" I replied.
