"Its nice to meet you. You're the new girl, right?" He asks, running one of his hands through his hair, which was still soaking wet. We weren't in a hurry anymore because it had stopped raining now. I was still cold though and still shivering. I knew this wasn't a dream this time. I had already pinched myself multiple times to see if I would wake up and I didn't so that meant that I was awake.
"Y-yeah... I'm the new girl." I sigh, wrapping my arms around myself in attempt to keep me warm, but it didn't work. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him taking his jacket off and putting it around my shoulders for me. "Sorry that its wet but it should keep you a tiny bit warmer." He laughs at his own stupidity, which I think is absolutely adorable.
I wondered why he was walking me home, like the real reason. He must have had better places to be, right? I mean, I was just keeping him away from his friends. Then again, I never asked him to walk home with me. He was the one who got out of the car and insisted on walking home with me. It was nice, but it didn't mean anything really.
"So, where did ya come from, dude?" He asks me, looking over at me and waiting for my answer. I really didn't want to open up to anyone, especially not to him because I was terrified that he would like me back. I just didn't want to get hurt, and hurt him in the process. I doubted that I would be staying here long anyway because mom would get sad without my company, dad wouldn't let her leave him so they would come back to get me. I could just feel it.
"Hawaii." I shrug. So much for shutting people out. I remembered how nice it was down there. It was always warm and me and Des were always out, sunbathing or catching a wave. She taught me how to hula dance, which was really fun. Mom really enjoyed it down there too, always at the pool or on the beach. Me and Des were together 24/7. How I miss that so much.
"Hawaii? Dude that place is swagtastic, great for catching a wave." He says, his eyes lighting up as he talks about surfing. So that must be what he is into, surfing. It was really fun, but it took me quite awhile to get the hang of it. I kept falling and wiping out. All the time. Des had to help me a lot.
"You like to surf?" I ask him, even though I really didn't have too. I already knew the answer to that, he did like to surf, probably a lot. He nods and I smile to myself, looking down at the ground so that he didn't see it. "I used to surf everyday." I tell him, looking up at him to see that he was smiling too.
What was I even doing? I wasn't supposed to be opening up to him. It wasn't good for me. I sigh softly, mentally slapping myself for letting him in. I had to push him back out, push him away, distance myelf once again.
When we finally got to my house I stopped and turned to him, "Well, this is my stop." I mumble, looking down at my feet. I hear his clear his throat, pulling out his phone and unlocking it. "Can I um... Get your number?" He asks me, sounding very nervous. Well, why not. I take his phone, typing my name and number into his phone, handing it back to him with a smile.
"Thanks." He nods and starts to smile like a goof. He was so cute, especially when he was smiling. Who am I kidding, he was always so cute. "Do you want your jacket back?" I ask him and he shakes his head, putting his phone back into his pocket. "You can keep it."
We say our awkward goodbyes and he starts to walk off. I turn around and begin to smile as I open the door to Grams house and step inside. I had no idea that she was awake until she spoke, startling me quite a bit. "Is that your boyfriend?"
