"Persephone! The mail came today!" Eros said through my door.
I jumped off my bed and raced out the door. Eros had a large grin on his face as he held a thick envelope.
I eagerly grabbed the paper and raced into the living room, Eros trailing after me. I sat on our couch and Eros plopped down next to me.
"Are you going to open it?"
"Yeah, I'm nervous though. What if it doesn't happen? I've been waiting for this for so long and if it doesn't happen I'll be so disappointed." I rambled on, my mind a blur.
"Pers, open it or else I will."
I took a deep breath and ripped the top of the envelope open and slid the paper out. I unfolded the ink covered paper and started reading. My eyes filled with tears.
"It's happening. Eros! It's actually happening." I jumped up and hugged him tightly.
"It is. It really is." Eros kissed the top of me head and hugged me back.
"He's coming back. Dad's actually coming back." I whispered quietly.
~
I probably read the letter 20 times over the next few days. I couldn't believe it was actually happening. I was going to see my dad again. As soon as I found out I called Dylan to tell him the news but I just got his voicemail. Adam was next on my list. And he couldn't have been more happy for me and Eros.
"I can't wait to meet him! And I can't even imagine how excited you are." Adam stated during our conversation.
"He'll love you. A friend of mine is a friend of his. That's what he used to tell me. It's been way too long since I last saw him." I sighed and looked at my watch, "we've been talking for an hour!" I laughed.
"Really?"
"Yes, I need to go. Talk to you tomorrow?"
"Most definitely. See ya, Kitten."
I hung up my phone and saw I had one missed call and three text messages from Dylan.
Pick up your phone
Seriously where are you
You're with Adam aren't you? Whatever
I rolled my eyes and threw my phone on my bedside table and changed into my pajamas. I'd deal with Dylan tomorrow.
*~*
"Why didn't you text me back last night?" Dylan asked as I sat down in his car.
"I was talking on the phone and when I hung up, I was too tired to talk."
"Who were you talking to?"
"Adam."
Dylan looked at me with a glare, "why were you talking to him?"
"Because I wanted to talk to someone and you weren't answering. Speaking of that, why didn't you answer?"
"I was helping a friend with their homework."
"Oh really? What friend?"
"Clementine."
"The slut?"
