i haven't visited lily since she told me she had leukemia.
it's just that it reminded me of my mother.
if lily lived, i would ask myself why they could save her and not my mom.
and if she died, i would ask myself why this disease was claiming so many people i loved.
so today i decided to visit her because at the end of the day, she was the victim here, not me.
a man and woman stood before a doctor yelling and arguing with him as i walked into lily's room.
i saw her crouched down, holding her hands over her ears. i pried them off and spoke.
"lily what happend?"
she pointed to the door.
"my parents are not happy."
those where her parents.
why were they mad?
was lily okay? i thought.
"you know what, it's probably nothing. come on."
i brought her to her bed, told her to lay down and plugged my headphones in, giving her the set.
i figured this would block out the noise.
"what are we watching?"
"only one of my favorite disney movies. have you watched tangled?"
"no."
i gasped.
"i think it was about time you did."
we snuggled up close, freddy and susie inbeween us and then the movie began to play.
